Introduction
Welcome to my guide for DATE A LIVE: Ren Dystopia!

First released for PS4 in Japan in 2020, this visual novel takes place after Season 3 of the anime (even though by the time this released here in the West, Season 5 - the final season - has already finished airing). That's why certain characters from the last two seasons are nowhere to be found here.

A mysterious girl named Ren has appeared, who claims she can grant wishes. How will this story play out? Will I get my wish? (Hehehe..) Well, read it and find out! And this guide will assist you in collecting every achievement, every ending, and every CG drawn by DAL illustrator and Neptunia artist Tsunako!

This entry is more straightforward than Rio Reincarnation was (by which I mean the collection of previous DAL VNs currently available on Steam and PS4, not Rio Reincarnation itself), so I won't be quite as detailed as I was for that guide (I won't specifically call out the achievements you'll naturally get, for example), BUT by the time you finish with my guide, your progress will be at 100% and you'll have everything!

I once again wrote this guide by myself, so everything within is from my own gameplay.

Before You Start

Like I said in the intro, this game is far more straightforward than Rio Reincarnation was. By which I mean, you don't need to pick certain choices to get on a specific character's route - once you select a girl on the map, you're on her route. Essentially, the map is a glorified route select menu, and it's the only time you'll ever see it in a playthrough (except for the true ending, but more on that in its own section). Not only that, but except for Ren's route, you'll quickly notice that the story beats are almost identical.

My personal advice is to go ahead and select all the sub characters (basically everyone not listed to the right). They don't change per playthough, and you'll need them anyway for Noisy Neighbors and Memory Completionist.

Oh, and when it comes to the Yamai sisters, it doesn't matter whose lunch you praise. It doesn't affect anything at all.

Within each route section, I've listed out the choices you need to select in order to see the good ending for each character. They are spoiler tagged for your convenience. If you see a scene where Ren defeats Shido and the spirit in question, that is the route's bad ending.
Tohka Yatogami

  • Why, is there something wrong?
  • Leave
  • I'm still not sure.
Origami Tobiichi
  • Make her eat carrots.
  • (I don't think the choose REALLY matters here; I chose to try lifting Tohka.)
  • Just stay quiet and carry her home.
  • Don't try it out.
Yoshino Himekawa
  • Take it seriously.
  • Something felt wrong.
  • I prefer the usual Yoshino.
Kurumi Tokisaki

  • Look at her
  • Don't close eyes
  • Don't give up
Kotori Itsuka
  • It looks great on you.
  • Rely on her.
  • I'd have done the same.
Kaguya Yamai

  • Kaguya made it possible.
  • Help Kaguya.
  • I had fun.
Yuzuru Yamai
  • Avert my eyes.
  • Pretend to be asleep.
  • I felt relieved.
Miku Izayoi
  • Hug.
  • Hug her.
  • I'm angry.
Natsumi Kyouno
  • Stop her.
  • Not really...
  • That apology just now was better.
Ren and the True Ending

Unlocks after clearing any other route for the first time.

Unlike every other route, every option here basically leads down a one way street. So, here's what each of those options does:
  • I want to introduce you to everyone. - This is the one you want. Leads to the good ending.
  • I want to break your restraints. - Gets you a CG and Ren Bad End.
  • I want to go on a date. - While it gives some interesting story exposition on Ren's character, it ultimately leads to another bad ending.
You will want to eventually see all 3 of those outcomes for Memory Completionist too.

The True Ending (aka EX Route)

Unlocks upon clearing all other routes. You will know you have done this if you hear Ren say something other than "DATE A LIVE: Ren Dystopia" at the title screen.

Return to Ren's route and proceed as normal. When Shido is about to make his 3rd wish, the text will change and you will be presented with a choice that did not exist previously. Choose I want to save you in the truest sense. to proceed to the true ending. (The other option will continue Ren's route as normal.)

The map returns for this route, but you're going to visit all destinations anyway, so it's fairly straightforward. You won't miss anything by picking one destination first over another.

Other than that, just sit back and enjoy the ending!!
Miscellaneous
* Whisper Completionist - If for some reason this has not unlocked for you by the time you beat the game, make sure you view at least one of each character's CG in the Gallery, and replay a few Memory events to hear Reine in the Memories menu. Also try saving and quitting multiple times for the title screen voices. Or try starting a new game and make a bunch of Quick Saves for all the Yes/No voices (this is what unlocked it for me). The reason I say you must clear the True Ending is because I believe that the characters that appear in that route - Rinne, Maria, Marina, Rio, and Maiyuri - have system voices that will not play until you meet them in the story, and therefore have their heads appear in the sound settings.
Conslusion
Well, what can I say? Thank you for....well...reading to the end of my guide, I guess! lol

I hope you enjoyed the game as much as I did, and I hope my guide helped you get everything! Comment below if you have any questions or feedback!

While DAL has sadly (but not unexpectedly) come to an end with the 5th and final season and there being no more Light Novel volumes to adapt, I still love this series and will continue to support it in the future.

Oh, and... in case it wasn't obvious....Kurumi is best girl.
