By Кранч (Cranch)
New engine and Crytek in particular never cease to amaze with how incompetent developers can be.

Solving a memory leak
Ultra Low Settings, DLSS Ultra Performance.png]
Minimum graphics settings, DLSS ultra performance.

Start the game, go to the graphics settings and change “Screen Mode” to “Full Screen”. Once you save the changes, you need to restart the game to unload the garbage that has managed to accumulate in memory.

As a result, at high settings Hunt: Showdown 1896 consumes ~9.6GB of video memory instead of 11.1GB at low settings as it was before. The graphics card is now running at true, rather than 70w at 100% load as it was before, resulting in performance never dropping below 120FPS

This is probably the first game in the world with such a problem, we can only congratulate Crytek for reaching such heights 👏

How this issue was discovered
Despite the great new interface and a whole new set of bugs, me and ...FLET ϟ SHOT... decided to get a trio together and play a few matches. To our incredible luck, 6_a_k_c started a conversation about game performance his PC can achieve with an Intel 12400F and RTX 4070 Super.

What was our surprise when having extremely close builds to what he has, in places where we were getting ~80FPS he was reporting ~160FPS instead. We started analyzing the situations, tried to replicate his graphics settings and kept getting half the performance. Eventually we noticed one single setting that we didn't copy from him - “Screen Mode”...

This is a normal behavior, most of the game must be run in fullscreen or fullscreen exclusive if you want the best performance. This is not related to Hunt only :)

This is the first time I've seen people realize that a game performs better when you switch screen mod to 'fullscreen'.
