Building Evolution Guide
By Painite
I wrote this guide as a quick reference for myself when long-term planning for the evolution of my buildings through the ages. If you would prefer to discover these by yourself though. Do not read this guide.

*Indicates a faction-specific building.

Note 01: Upon advancing to the next age you will lose access to any buildings not yet built.

Note 02: As of v0.216.14, when multiple evolution options are available, you can choose only one option per age. For example, if you build two Ergasterions and evolve one into a Herbal Merchant, you cannot evolve the other into a Butcher’s Mail later. Both Ergasterions must be evolved into a Herbal Merchant. Addendum to Note 02: This may require additional testing. As I continue to play, I am beginning to wonder if building evolution's might be influenced by faction dynamics.

Note 03: To unlock the building combinations above, first research the corresponding building in the blueprints section. Each new unlock reveals a new combination.

Note 04: Once a blueprint has been researched, you can immediately evolve a building without needing to construct the new building first - provided you have enough resources.

G'day bdcred,

I'm really glad this guide helped you, and I’m keen to check out your guide too! Lately, I’ve been sinking time into Timberborn, but if I find myself back in Memoriopolis, I’ll definitely consider updating the guide for you and the community. Thanks for the shout-out—means a lot! Happy gaming!

yo dude great work here and it has helped me massively, any chance that you could do the update for this as they have now released the Renaissance?

THIS should be clarified in the game itself honestly. Thank you very much.

No worries Pharaonkheops! I'm glad my guide helped clear that up. The faction mechanics are definitely intriguing, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the developer polishes them in their next release. In the meantime, have fun unlocking those buildings!

Great job Painite !
Now, I understand why the number of factions needed to unlock some buildings was not always the same... it's because it's not a matter of numbers.... ^^

G’day Praxis and ovehaithabu,

Nice catch! After testing, I found the same outcome and have added a new " Caution " note about this evolution/combination to the guide.
PraxisLP 3 Oct, 2024 @ 6:14pm
@ovehaithabu Yes it did. The Butcher's Mail is a commercial building. The Herbal Merchant is the Production one and seems to be locked and unchoosable in the current patch.

@PraxisLP, When you upgraded your Ergasterion, did it change the culture type for you ? For me it changed from Production to Commercial after the upgrade.
Painite  [author] 19 Sep, 2024 @ 12:11am
Hi PraxisLP,

You’re absolutely right! It is upgradeable. If you combine it with the Residentia Polticus, you’ll create a Beggar’s Settlement. However, I just discovered this today, so I haven’t updated my guide yet. 😄
