Now, many GBO2 players don't know this including several A+ and even S- skill level players who have been playing GBO2 for a very long time. But pressing the W key (or up on the left stick for controllers) is essential for maximizing your damage potential.

A lot of weapons have short range and projectile travel times which are negated by closing the distance. Additionally being close enough to your enemy allows you to combo which is the best way to not just maximize your damage, but to also shut down the enemy from doing damage. The MOST important combo will be covered in the next section.

Sitting at your maximum range and staying as far away as possible hurts both you and your team. Even if you're a support you still want to maintain a relatively close distance to your teammates so they can support you just as much as you can support them.

This is the most difficult part of the guide. Seemingly very few players actually know how to pull this off. GBO2 is less like a third-person shooter and more of a fighting game. This means that most of your damage will come from using combos on your enemies.

The most important combo in the game is the stun into downswing. This works with all mobile suits in the game.

How do you pull this off? Well first you stun the enemy. You will know an enemy is stunned if they look like this.


After stunning the enemy. You pull out your melee weapon and while pressing the reverse movement and attacking at the same time you will perform a "downswing" which knocks over opponents.


After an opponent is knocked down, they cannot damage you all while you can do free damage to them! It also only gets better from there! By using your boost movement you can cancel the melee recovery animation. Your opponent is knocked down so long that you can actually use your downswing again with most mobile suits to deal even more damage just before their I-frames kick in.
