Community Freeverse Plugin for Marathon Infinity

Beskrivning
Based on the XBLA textures for Marathon 2, this set was built off of high quality textures created by Freeverse and given to the Marathon community. They have been further enhanced by the community to support Marathon Infinity along with wall textures by community member Goron Svensson.

Differences from the standard XBLA Texture set for Marathon 2

- Marathon Infinity Support

- HD versions of all art, mostly from original sources provided by Freeverse or edited AI upscale for any missing textures for consistency.

- Added missing color tables for Marathon Infinity

- Marathon Infinity wall textures and landscapes by community member Goron Svensson

- Shader support with glowmaps for lights and muzzle flashes and bumpmaps for wall textures

- Full set of the HD player sprites, including those for the SMG

- Added in missing VacBobs, Critters and JJaro Scenery provided by community member General Tacticus.

NOTES

* This is a complete set. No other graphics packages are necessary or supported

* Please make sure the "transparent_liquids" plugin is disabled. It is not needed for transparent liquid with this set as that has already been enabled. Furthermore it is not supported with XBLA textures.

* If any effects such as glowmaps, bumpmaps, or transparent liquids are not desired, they can be enabled/disabled in the "Graphics" -> "Rendering Options" section under Preferences. (Disabled by default)

* Also under "Graphics," "Enhanced Hud" or "Basic Hud" is recommended

* A Marathon 2 specific version is available for that game

You did get me looking and realize I forgot to colorize the drone engines blue for clut4. Ill try to get that fixed as soon as I have time to figure out why the steam upload is giving me trouble and hanging...

Ahh! Thanks for the info. That makes sense. I tried to make sure every part of the shapes file is represented so people can do what ever they could with the default textures. Who knows what mods depend on it over the decades

Thanks for looking into it. Here's what's going on.

Between the 5 drone varieties in the default Infinity Physics file, they fire either 'Drone Bolt' or 'Possessed Drone Bolt'

'Drone bolt' uses CLUT 0, so it's Green.
'Possessed Drone Bolt' uses CLUT 1, so it's purple.

That means with the default Physics, nothing is firing a blue bolt.

However, if someone were to use this shapes pack with a custom physics map that is intentionally choosing the other CLUTs, then the mml is technically forcing an "incorrect" CLUT instead. My recommendation is to 'Use it if you got it' (such as the blue bolts), but also not worry about all the other edge cases.

FUN FACT: The 'Posessed Drone Bolt Impact' used CLUT 4, so it's blue. That means a purple-fired shot becomes blue on impact. This is probably a Bungie oversight! :papyrus:

Default shapes in game are actually purple, even though not in the shapes file itself. I'm not sure where this is hard coded to use parts of one color table over the other, but MML annoyingly doesn't override it even if I set it. It's not the only area that was doing this that, same with the grenades shot by the cyborgs.

I'll be honest, I don't rightly remember...I went through the trouble of colorizing them and then didn't use them. I can only assume I had gotten my wires crossed with the color tables in the mml. Good eyes, Thanks! I'll try to get a fix out soon after I've tested everything.

Question: With the default shapes, the drone using CLUT 4 have bolts that are blue. In this Plugin, while the blue bolt replacement graphics exist, the mml specifies the purple bolts instead. Seems intentional, but was wondering why it wasn't 1:1.

One of my biggest turn-offs that prevented me from finishing Infinity a while back was the recycled graphics assets from Durandal. This kind of graphics mod was just what I needed to finally finish this game! Thank you for making this!

Not for infinity. In anycase this is a heavily enhanced version of that. Please read the description for details
