Caladon Guided Missile Frigate

"Developed as a highly adaptable and cheap platform to fulfill a variety of roles within the APF Fleet the Caladon makes up a majority of the logistical backbone of the APF. Caladon class vessels fulfill many roles such as convoy escort, planetary defense, patrol, fighter tending, cargo transport, and more. Similar to the older mink class vessels the Caladon lacks a jump drive and relies on other ships for long range transport. It is specially designed to work alongside modern APF support cruisers for these longer range operations. While many versions include weapons the Caladon is not intended for front line combat, acting more as a cheap escort or guard vessel for logistical assets.

The Missile carrying Guided Missile Frigate variant of the Caladon is built off of longer hulls normally used for cargo and tanker variants to allow it to carry a larger number of missiles. Caladon Missile Frigates are armed with 24 Interceptor missiles designed to fit in compact silos and be fired against enemy fighters, torpedos, or missiles. A search radar on the bow of the vessel facilitates the targeting of incoming enemy munitions or fighters. Caladon Missile frigates are primarily employed to increase the point defense of non front line fleets."
