Playing Holodance with SteamLink

This is just a very quick guide explaining how to play the game using Oculus/Meta Quest with SteamLink: Simply add Launch Option "-vrmode openvr" and enjoy playing the game.

  1. Right click on Holodance in the Library
  2. Select the menu entry "Properties..." from the popup menu
  3. In section General, in the textbox Launch Options, put in:
    -vrmode openvr
Why is this needed? Holodance tries to automatically pick the VR implementation that works best for you. If your headset uses SteamVR (Vive, Valve Index and so on), it will automatically select SteamVR. If you use one of the OG Rifts or AirLink, it will automatically use the Oculus runtime. With SteamLink, unfortunately, it detects and uses Oculus, so won't properly render to the headset. By adding this launch option, you for SteamVR and then things will just work.
