Getting into Deathbound, and help with Eithalos :D
By Joss
Many players have complained about the Ithalos fight, and indeed it is a hard one. Besides the execution part, this fight is very controlled, and the player has a big agency on how the enemies spawn and what order, here I will try to give you some tips that helped me beat him in NG, NG+ and soon NG++

The Souls-Like Formula
This section is more focused on players that played other souls-likes and are having a hard time with Deathbound.

This game while has similar mechanics, it's not the same.

If you don't use your entire arsenal, you will be beaten quite easily, so be mindful of the following:
  • Each Character is 25% of your moveset and stats, so don't limit yourself to your favorite, everyone deserves a time in the spotlight :)
  • Use your morph dodges, they have immense value, since stamina is lined to characters health, dodge and switch if your stamina is getting low, it uses a sync bar, but it's very worth, since now you're in a character with full stamina.
  • Morph Strikes and Ultra Morph Strikes have invulframes at startup, Ultras have more than Normal Morphs, but you can freely use them to keep your combo rolling, and dodge enemy strikes at the same time, also the same as the point above about stamina applies here.
  • Morph Strikes CAN and should be chained into another, as not only it gives you invulframes, you're only using a tiny bit of stamina per character that comes in one after another. If you hit any attack button, and change to another character with a Morph Strike, since the Morph counts as an attack, you can chain another right after.
  • Morphstrikes have what is called a counter Morph Strike. If you change characters as you're about to get hit (after you yourself attack, so Attack>Hit any morph button), you not only dodge the move, but you also get to keep your sync bar. It's quite hard to hit, but your normal Morphstrike becomes an Ultra for free, so try to morphstrike in the middle of a combo, as an anemy is about to hit you :D
  • Use your items, the buffs they provide are super strong, and they last a lot
  • Synergies and Conflicts are BOTH GOOD. Synergies are only buffs, but Conflicts are both buff and debuffs, but the buffs are in general stronger than Synergy buffs, so craft a good team with BOTH Conflicts AND Synergies

Hope these tips helps souls players get a better understanding of the game, and newcomers to understand a bit more of the hidden mechanics :D
Big Bad Eithalos
Did you know, not only his name is based on the name of the head of Titanforge (many bosses are references :>), this boss is also really hard.

It's a test of your skills and patience, and I hope this guide can help you through it.
The Arena
The fight happens in 3 parts/arenas, all the while Eithalos will cast 2 different spells on you. A thunder that comes from upwards, it takes a while to fall, so it's somewhat easy to dodge if you just run around the arena, and a sweep that moves slowly crawling along the whole floor of the arena, you just gotta dodge over it.

The first part is in an open area with a big chasm in the middle, with the boss being on the other side of the chasm.

After defeating the first wave of enemies, a side door will open and you get to the second arena. It's quite a bit harder, with some elite enemies we will go through on a later section.

The third part you will be able to hit the boss, but there still 2 waves of enemies there, so you gotta be careful with a lot on this part.

YOU CAN FALL INTO THE CHASM, SO BE CAREFUL WHILE NAVIGATING THE ARENA
The Fight - 1
The first part of the fight consists of the following enemies:

-4 Melee humanoid enemies
-1 Brute Shield enemy
-1 with throwables humanoid enemy
-1 Elite Spear Spitter enemy
-1 Hell hound enemy

This might seem daunting on a first approach, but the enemies spawn in a predetermined order, so you can fight the enemies at your pace.

The spawn order is the following:

When the fight starts, the Brute, a throwable, and 2 melees spawn.
If you kill the two melees and the throwable, two more melees will spawn, so if you ignore the brute and run around the arena killing the small humanoids, no more elite enemies will spawn.

When you kill the big brute, the elite spitter and hellhound will spawn, BUT, the spitter doesn't move, and the hellhound can get stuck on the table if, as soon as you kill the Brute, run to where the spitter will spawn, and just beat his ass there, the hellhound is a good boy and will wait for you to beat the spitter, then you can fight the hellhound in peace.

After this, you can proceed to the sidedoor, and start the second stage of the fight.
The Fight - 2
The second part is the hardest for me, although it is only just 2 enemy waves.

It consists of:
-2 spitters
-1 holder (boss, but here is a mini version of him, way less hp, but same moveset)
-1 Brute with a hammer
-1 elite Spider assassin

The first wave is the 2 spitters and the Holder, the spitters spawn on each side of the arena with the holder spawning in the middle. If you bumrush the spitter close to the door, you can hit him two times, dodge the shot from the spitter in the other side of the arena, the finish the first spitter off.

About this time, the Holder should almost be on you, so try and bait him to your side of the arena, go around him and run off to the other spitter and kill him as fast as you can.

After that, you beat the Holder while being aware of of Eithalos spells. He is the same as the boss fight, but you should be stronger, and he is weaker than his boss counterpart.

After this, hell starts.

The Brute hammer that is strong and fast, and the spider assassin that is also strong and fast spawn.
Each close to a door in the arena. Choose which you want to stop first, and throw the freeze pot at him, for example, if you want to hit on the brute first, stay close to the door you enter the arena, the spider assassin spawns there, and as soon as he spawns, throw freeze pots at him. It wont last long, but you can get some damage in the brute, and maybe even kill him before it wears off.

If he unfreezes, keep throwing freeze pots at him until you kill one of them.

If you don't have the freeze pots and run out, the fight takes a while more, but it's still doable. Bait the spider guy to one side of the arena, since he is faster than the Brute, but not by much, and has less HP. Beat him a bit, while being careful to not take damage back, and when the brute gets close, immediately disengage, run to the other side of the arena and wait for spider guy, rinse and repeat.

When you're done, time for the fight with the smaller space to get around, part 3.
The Fight - 3
As soon as you enter this area, you are able to hit Eithalos, but wait, save your stamina for the enemies that are about to spawn.

The enemies that will spawn are the following:

-1 Spear Thrower
-1 Consumables thrower
-1 Elite with the long arms
-3 humanoid melees
-1 Chimera (big dawg, without fire)

Eithalos, besides the throwing thunder, has the normal moveset of an basic enemy essencemancer, which means he can, heal enemies, buff their damage and defense, and throw the little poison orb. it's not much to be careful off, the heal is the most annoying one, and while he does these, he can't cast the thunder.

When you get in there, if Eithalos is using the thunder from the sky, you can use the time to hit on him a bit, but be careful, and run the the farther wall of the arena. There, the throwers will spawn, and the long arm guy will spawn close to the door you came in from. If you kill the long arm guy now, it will spawn the remaining enemies, so ignore him for now.

Kill quickly the smaller enemies, before Eithalos heals them, and then the long arm guy will be almost on you. when you fight him, be mindfull of the chasm to the side. Try to dodge in place, in his directino or backwards, side dodges can send you off the arena.

After you beat him, the Chimera and 3 melees will spawn.

They will be close to each other, so dodging them is a pain. I would recommend freeze pots if you have them, if you don't use your character with the best weight on the moves, and try to beat the 3 melees at the same time by hitting them for example, with Agharos default hits, which are wide and staggers a lot.

The Chimera should be upon you soon if now, it can also get stuck on the table if you get close to the door you entered after killing the long arm enemy. It hits hard and frequently, use your morphstrikes invulframes and and use the entirety of the arena to kite it, and it should go down soon.
Closing the Fight
Now, it should be only you and your main man Eithalos.

Beat his ass and close the fight, nothing special happens here, it's basically a fight against a generic essencemancer, but he deals a bit more damage. Dodge his poison balls, hit his balls and he should go down quite fast.

The enemies are the harder part of this fight, obviously, and I hope the guide helped you understand and control what spawns at what time, and you get this boss his deserved comeuppance :)

Added a bit of info about chaining morphstrikes, since it helps with getting the achievement Untouchable, although I'm still to get it myself :)
