"Howa Type 64, a Japanese made cold war era Battle Rifle introduced into the Japan Self-Defense Force (JSDF) in 1964. This rifle is only in use exclusively by the JSDF and was never exported out of Japan, which replaced the American supplied M14 and served as a standard issue rifle until the introduction of the Howa Type 89, in 1989.

Chambered in a reduced powdered 7.62mm NATO round and feeds from a 20 round box magazine. The rifle features an intergrated bipod and a M14 style optic mounting system. It can also be mounted with a Japanese made variant of the M1 Bayonet.
