How to make actually good community campaigns
By Mick McMack
Since im tired of seeing every community campaign have either only one mission, be written in all caps, make you fight against billions of enemy fighters or all of the above, i have decided to make a guide to teach some, no, most of you how to make actually good maps.

First, make sure your name isnt a string of numbers
This is easy, just go to community missions > settings (located in the top right corner)
and there you can change your name
Choose the theme and name of your campaign
I recomend first choosing the theme.
For example: pacific island hopping
Choosing the theme of your campaign will help you select a name later
Themes can change during the campaign, just make sure it isnt too sudden.
For example: dont go from winter in one mission to suddenly boom, youre in a desert now in the next mission.
Choosing a specific theme should determine what the missions are about
For example: if the theme is about dogfights in the british channel they shouldnt be located in mainland europe, maybe occasionally at the shore
Creating missions
I recomend first thinking about what the mission is about, whether its offensive or defensive. maps with a town or a bridge or both are the best, mainly because they provide an objective that actually requires to focus on it, because it wont fly up to you and start attacking, so you will actually have to go out of your way to destroy it.
For example: having to destroy coal mine structures requires more thinking to it than just "if it shoots i shoots"
Just dogfights are boring, but dogfights AND having to destroy or protect something can be interesting, especially in solo missions
Speaking of solo missions
We need more of those, just dont make them impossible
Also add some side missions, they can spice things up a bit
Example: "I dont have to destroy those AA vehicles, but if i do it will be easier to finish the mission, but again if i do destroy them, then my bombers will run out of bombs, and that will make the mission longer, but then again if i dont, they can shred my squadron"
Selecting ally planes
If its a defensive mission, make planes mostly or all fighter planes
If its an offesnive mission, add bombers and fighters for escort
Tips
dont put massive amounts of fighter planes
dont give too many main objectives
give difrent times to difrent missions
occasionally switch themes of missions
make sure the campaign has atleast 10 or about 10 missions
dont make impossible levels, if you are supposed to destroy building in the mission select a few bombers for the squadron
if an objective is to destroy a convoy or a train consider making the bridge destructable (make destroying the bridge a main objective)
give catchy titles to missions
make sure there is more than 1 mission
Thank you for your time
enjoy making actually good maps
