Badges
How do badges work and what are they?
well quite simply put badges are the way to level up on steam.
They are "icons" you can assemble from trading cards that the only real use is gaining xp.
more info on that in the level up section

1 - Power Player: This is a steam badge that gets automatically awarded when you get a certain amount of games and is constantly evolving.

2 & 3 - These are game badges that are made by obtaining trading cards*

How do you get trading cards?
Trading cards drop about half the amount they have total in a game once. Say the game has 10 cards, you will get 5.

The best way to get them would be through the steam market or through trading.

Tip: You can see what the badge icon will look like by looking on Steam Card Exchange

Tip 2: You may see an Idle Steam program on the internet to idle get trading cards, I would not recommend it since it's gonna add hours to games you never played, and overall it doesn't help aesthetics or if you're a completionist game time.
Badges & Levelling
How do I level up on the cheap?

You level up your steam through badges, One of the most efficient ways is using levelling websites, like this one that I've used and trust.

https://steamlevels.com/

What these websites do to make it cheaper for you and them is they give you cards sets that are cheaper. More often these badges don't necessarily look good. They're just there for the purpose of levelling you up.

Tip: ideally, once you have got your desired level, then you would buy/craft some badges that fit an aesthetic to fit your profile better.

Easy XP
There is a badge you can complete for free called Community Leader, if you go to your badges tab you will see the tasks you need to do but here is an overview

Showcases
What are steam showcases?
Showcases are profile sections that allow you to show your favorite Items/Achievements and Badges in your banner. Amongst other types of showcases

How do I get more showcases?
Extra showcases comes from levelling up.
You get 1 every 10 levels with a maximum of 13 showcases at one time.

You can also get extra showcases or upgrade your showcases from the steam shop. The upgrade allows for more slots within the showcase. example instead of 4 completions, it allows you to show 6

It can cost a fair amount to upgrade your showcases and buy them all, to figure out how much you need in steam points you can follow my other guide

Tip: you don't need to buy all showcases, just the ones you need
Steam Points
How to obtain steam points?

Method
Details
Purchasing on Steam
You get roughly 100 Steam Points for every $1 spent on Steam.
Receiving Awards
You can receive awards from posts, artworks, screenshots, and profile awards. These give you a part of their value in points, but you have to wait 14 days after they have been awarded to you.

Steam points can get really expensive, 100,000 points would cost you 1000$.

There's a much cheaper way to obtain them that I trust. You can buy points from a third party seller. the one I bought from G2G specifically the seller DKGameshop

What can you do with steam points?
You can do many things but the main use is buying items that will make your profile look better such as backgrounds. avatar frames, themes . . .

Profile Previews
How do I know what background to choose?
Well there's no right answer for this as it's personal taste. You can browse the points shop and see what you like, I will say animated is really nice but don't underestimate a still background

How do I preview a background?
Say you find a background you like let's say it's Background from Game A. You would go on here, sign in through steam and search for the game then the background so you can preview how it looks on your profile here[www.steamcardexchange.net]

Tip: if you are on Chrome use this tool to preview backgrounds, frames & more

If you're on any other browser use this guide which you can find right here

Color Themes & Recommendations
What are they?
Profile themes / color themes / game profiles apply a different style to your typical steam background which can be use to accentuate a profile.

Where can I get them?
They are available in the points shop and generally you can preview the color before you purchase it but if you want to see what It looks like on your profile I recommend this tool for Chrome

My recommendation is using the Dying Light 2 game profile as it is transparent and fits with many things as some colours are missing from profile themes, such as pink.
Long Workshops / Artworks
What is it?
You may have seen on certain steam profile, including my own people having a gif being on display or even an image, these are called long workshops.

How to do a long workshop?
The process is rather easy. I recommend following this video here but using this website to cut the gif into 5 columns
