Getting started -- Beginner's Guide (WIP)
By excession125
This guide will help you with many things I wish I knew before playing. There may be SPOILERS here, so if you're sensitive about that, please avoid this since I'm not marking spoilers within the guide itself.

I made many foolish mistakes during my initial play and asked lots of questions, but these observation are my opinion of what will work out best for people just starting out or maybe a bit into it.

Getting Started
1. When you first open the game, go to settings. The day goes by too quickly, and there is an option to lengthen the day from 12 to 22 minutes. I suggest you play a day or two to see how fast it goes, then set it to a speed that you like. I prefer 22 minutes (you can always go to sleep to pass time if it's too slow or you have nothing to do.

2. Your first choice is a starter blob. I suggest taking the fire type (magma) with the horn on his forehead. The first dungeon area is nature (leaf symbol) and fire>nature>storm.

3. The first day of every week spawns new forage materials near large trees. Scour your farm and the first area when you exit it for forage. This helps you with feeding your blob to regain energy and later is important to cure conditions and feed blobs to produce waste to turn into fertilizer.

4. In the menu (tab key on PC), there is a calendar and other important information. You'll see there are festivals on the last day of certain weeks. NEVER miss a festival since they are important for building friendships and getting free blob eggs or other things like recipes and such.

5. The first festival is extra important. You run around and collect painted eggs. During the time you have, you should be able to get 40-45 if you see the pattern. I'd suggest manually saving the morning of the festival so you can try again if you don't. With those eggs (you should save 10 of them at all costs), buy the blueprint of the painted egg decoration (Very important for breeding later on) from Carnelian (the store guy) for 15 eggs, and if you have enough left, buy the rabbit blob from Flint.

6. As far as the farm setup, put down as many soil plots as you can stand watering by hand. I had 12 for a while and expanded it to 24 (fits within the existing fencing). Plant half with vegetables and half with flowers from the girl in the town center (they have an insane return on investment). Sell the flowers and save the vegetables.

7. On nights when they are star showers, run around and collect star shards and copper ore. These will help you and great deal and they're free. They land on your farm so stay there and run in to sleep and 11:50.

8. If you're not stupid like me, you'll realize the sign posts unlock fast travel locations. The important ones to unlock are right outside your farm exit (click on the sign post), in the town center directly ahead of you, and then straight ahead to the beach. They often have chests for your inventory next to them.

9. It's important to get the toys your blobs will play with so that you can level up their energy. You can buy the tennis ball and the shuttlecock (badminton) from Flint for 1500 each. Also, give the blobs what they crave for food to boost their health: this is very important.

10. Finally, do not cut down all the trees on your farm (they spawn forage on the first day of each week. Cut them down on a need to be gone basis (for barns, apple trees, etc.).

Priorities
These are things to try to get done as you go. There is no hurry at all, but it made me feel that I was progressing.

1. Expand your bag at the shop in town. I think it cost 2000 when I did it, and it gives you an extra row so you can keep the stuff you find more easily.

2. As you gain skill points from meeting the townspeople, open your information screen (tab on PC) and allot the points how you see fit. I'd suggest lowering the energy cost of axe and pickaxe as top priorities, then watering can for early game. The money bonus ones are not worth it at all, and most of the other are later game issues (good ones are breeding mutation bonus, makers can do 5 items at a time)

3. You want to build a forge as soon as you start to get copper and coal.

4. Buy the small barn blueprint from Flint as soon as you have the gold. The barn gives you a place to start breeding (which is very important to get stronger blobs). There is a guide on breeding that is excellent.

5. Join the adventurers guild when you have a spare 1000. It gives you access to a leveling are and great ways to make money. Chopping down the mushroom trees to get light spores to sell is easy money ... they're only worth 20 a piece, but you can easily get 60-100 on a dungeon run, and that adds up to a nice bonus.

6. Don't worry about signing up for the tournament until you are stronger (I waited until after I had cleared the first boss in the dungeon). The tournament levels up all the non blob world (the dungeon from the adventurers guild) to be stronger, and you can kind of soft lock yourself if you clear that tournament. It might take you a bit longer to level, but it will make it easier to get blobs you want.

7. Blob eggs to target: the turtle looking blob from fishing in the ocean and getting the red exclamation point to fight them, and the rock blob from the mine near the train station. The turtle can water your crops and the rock blob hoes a large area for you. How do your guarantee getting an egg? The star shards that fall on those special night can be forged into a wishing star that you use on the blob you want an egg from, so when you kill it, you get an egg. Otherwise it's a 2% chance when you fight them.

If you made it this far, I hope it helps. I'll try to update things as they change/improve or things are added in early access, but time if a fickle beast for me.

To expand on the MAJOR importance of the first festival, Painted Eggs, its importance relates to blob barn decorations which impact blob breeding and production. Carnelian sells a blueprint for Colored Eggs for 5 painted eggs (EA v0.906). Colored eggs are decorations for your blob barn and can be made using one painted egg. Decorations for blob barns are important for blob happiness which factors into breeding and production. A barn's decorations maxes at 10, hence the need to save 10 painted eggs. The options for barn decorations are very limited and otherwise expensive, so this is a HUGE opportunity to take advantage of.

TL;DR: Buy the Colored Eggs blueprint from Carnelian for five painted eggs and save at least 10 additional painted eggs to make 10 said Colored Eggs decorations for your blob barn.

Btw, you don't have to chop down trees to build things. You can go to the workbench and it lets you move the trees out of the way.

I would pick a water for starting blob, take the free egg and sell it...Buy adventurer membership after you get money...Enter and exit your first dungeon for the fire blob, get a bunney..Now you have one of each.
