I finally managed to beat it thanks to this guide
It took me 11 tries...
I've beaten Despair for the first time today, died at the true boss unfortunately, but I have found that using the drill makes despair more consistent and easy. Might just be personal preference and might just be delusion because I love Gurren Lagann too much to admit that the drill might be suboptimal lol. Anyways yeah Drill good
A friend made me aware and it's super helpful to keep the pressure on during the fight when you think you otherwise won't be able to hit or you want to focus on dodging.
If you can get to the fight and clear the first strobing health bar, then your death checkpoint will be that point, effectively reducing the fight back down to three health bars.
I'm unsure how to get her to only two though, I keep resetting the entire fight whenever I'm doing terribly lol
