Characters
Lillia
Lillia is the first of four characters you begin with when you first download the game. She is a melee-based fighter, using her giant hammer as her main weapon. Her combat style is stronger strike to the area she's aiming, as well as releasing air blasts when her weapon is at its maximum level. Her main skill upgrade gives her more revives and higher HP upon revival.
Her weapon is 'Hammer Strike', which becomes 'Mighty Impact' when it reaches its maximum level. Her main skill is 'Holy Cross' which grants the revive and HP boosts.

Inu Kage
Inu Kage is the second of the first four characters. He is a ranged fighter, using his shuriken as his main weapons. His combat style is throwing the shuriken in whichever direction he is aiming, and they stay in place for a few seconds when it reaches maximum level. His main skill upgrade grants him more Dash actions as well as a longer dash distance.
His weapon is 'Shuriken', which becomes 'Fuhma Shuriken' when it reaches its maximum level.
His main skill is 'Ningu' which grants the Dash limit and distance increase.

Emberfire
Emberfire is the third of the first four characters. He is a ranged fighter, using his gun/rocket launcher arms as his weapons. Unlike the other selectable characters, Emberfire is not able to use the Dash action, instead, he will root himself into the ground and attack slightly differently. When Emberfire is moving, he fires single rockets at the aimed direction; When he is deployed, he fires multiple rockets with a significantly lower cooldown but cannot move. His main skill upgrade grants him a larger pickup radius for XP gems.
His weapon is 'Mode Shift', which becomes 'Machine O' War' when it reaches its maximum level.
His main skill is 'Spacial Ring' which allows him to collect XP gems from further distances.

Doridori
Doridori is the final of the four starter characters. He is a melee fighter, but uses no weapon as such, instead utilises his spiky shell to inflict damage upon enemies upon being attacked. He also generates a protective barrier that absorbs and reflects all damage received (the barrier has its own 'health bar' which appears above Doridori's). Once the barrier's HP bar runs out, it disappears for a short while before reappearing. Doridori's main skill increases his damage reflection even further.
His weapon is 'Spiky Shell', which becomes 'Spikeback' when it reaches maximum level.
His main skill is 'Cheval de Frise' which increases damage reflection.

Augustine
Augustine is the first unlockable character. He is a melee fighter, using his longsword as his main weapon. His combat style is a blade slash in the direction he's aiming, eventually firing wind blades in random directions when the weapon is at its maximum level. Augustine's main skill increases the amount of damage his longsword inflicts upon enemies when struck with it.
His weapon is 'Dawnblade', which becomes 'Sabre Awakening' when it reaches maximum level.
His main skill is 'Long Sword' which increases his Attack.

Aldreya
Aldreya is the second unlockable character. She is a ranged fighter, her main weapon being a bow and arrows. Her combat style is a shot of three arrows in a arc in the direction she is aiming, eventually splitting multiple times upon impact once the weapon reaches maximum level. Aldreya's main skill further enhances her arrows by increasing their speed once fired.
Her main weapon is 'Scattershot', which becomes 'Splitshot' when it reaches its maximum level.
Her main skill is 'Charm of Speed' which increases the speed of her arrows and other projectiles.

Aster
Aster is the third unlockable character. He is a summoner, his main weapons are magical shards that he shoots out toward enemies - after dealing a certain amount of damage, they will summon a guardian which deals further damage to enemies. This weapon later summons a falling star and an otherworldly guardian upon dealing a certain amount of damage when it reaches its maximum level. His main skill decreases the amount of damage taken from enemy attacks.
His main weapon is 'Stellar Summoner', which becomes 'Stellarfall' when it reaches its maximum level.
His main skill is 'Protective Veil' which decreases the damage recieved.

Elena
Elena is the fourth unlockable character. She is a spellcaster, her main weapon being magic spikes that erupt from the ground that damage randomly targeted enemies, later creating a stationary area of effect centred on you that causes damage to enemies and slows them down when it reaches its maximum level. Her main skill increases the amount of XP that the gems provide.
Her main weapon is 'Shadow Spikes', which becomes 'Shadow Realm' when it reaches its maximum level.
Her main skill is 'Scroll of Growth' which increases her XP gain.

Lena
Lena is the final unlockable character. She is a ranged fighter, her main weapon being a bomb that she throws in the direction she is aiming. Her attack deals splash damage as well as stunning enemies within range - she later throws three bombs with a chance to trigger eight consecutive explosions based on luck when it reaches its maximum level. Her main skill increases her luck.
Her main weapon is 'Explosive Throw', which later becomes 'Explosive Barrage' when it reaches its maximum level.
Her main skill is 'Clover' which gives her increased luck.

Characters (Continued)
Benimaru
Benimaru is the first of the two new characters added to the game! He is a melee-based fighter, using his katana as his main weapon. His combat style is faster and harsher slashed to nearby enemies, as well as leaving a ghostly copy of himself behind for a few seconds to also slash enemies after using a Dash. When Benimaru's weapon is at it's full level, a dome of blade slashes appears around Benimaru, the ghostly copy lasts longer, and once it disappears it releases a burst of air slashes to nearby enemies. His main skill upgrade gives him an increased dash distance.
His weapon is called 'Jigengiri', which becomes 'Jigen Rankiri' when it reaches its maximum level. This weapon also features a special attack. When Benimaru is surrounded by dark red energy ("Still Water State"), the player can hold the spacebar, causing a green, fan-shaped AoE. Whenever they player lets go of the spacebar, Benimaru will fire out energy blasts to enemies in that area to deal a large amount of damage.
His main skill is 'Watermelon Rind', which gives him the Dash distance upgrade

Vera
Vera is the second of the two new characters added to the game! She is a ranged fighter, using holy orbs of light as her main weapon. Her combat style is more orbs and faster orb speed to shoot at nearby enemies. When Vera's weapon is at its full level, she will continuously fire many holy orbs in a clockwise direction. Her main skill upgrade increases her maximum HP.
Her weapon is called 'Holy Missiles', which becomes 'Holy Light' when it reaches its maximum level. This weapon also features a special attack. Using one of Vera's Dashes, the player can hold the spacebar, causing holy energy to show itself on the ground around Vera. Whenever the player lets go of the spacebar, a holy blast is fired out in a circle centred on Vera, causing a large amount of damage to enemies within range.
Her main skill is 'Globus Divinus', which gives her the increased maximum HP.

When you select a weapon or skill, the next time you level up, the combine-able weapon/skill will have the glowing symbol of its counterpart at the bottom.
The symbols for each weapon and skill are below to also use as a reference guide:
Pickups
XP Gem - Tier I

Gain a small amount of XP.

This gem awards the smallest amount of XP but is dropped by most monsters, and is probably the most common gem you will see.

XP Gem - Tier II

Gain a medium amount of XP.

As time progresses in the level, monsters with more health will start dropping these gems which award seemingly more than double what the first tier gems offer.

XP Gem - Tier III

Gain a large amount of XP.

These gems are rarely dropped but grant you a very large amount of XP and will be the primary source of XP in the late-game.

Bronze Ancient Coin

It can be exchanged for a few coins.

Gives you a small amount of money and is the most common coin you will come across.

Silver Ancient Coin

It can be exchanged for a medium amount of coins.

These coins are seen pretty rarely and are mostly dropped by treasure goblins. They grant over double what the bronze coins offer.

Gold Ancient Coin

It can be exhanged for a significant amount of coins.

These coins are nearly exlusively dropped from treasure goblins and end-of-stage bosses. They grant you hundreds of coins each.

Vortex Ring

Gathers all coins and XP gems off the ground.

When you pick this up, all gems and coins from the map come rushing towards you. Keep in mind this ring does not generate any extra gems and coins, so if there's barely anything on the map then try and save this for later.

Goddess of Fate's Blessings

Get up to five random powerful buffs.

On pickup, this grants you 1-5 power-ups. These are for skills and weapons you have that need levelling. These can also drop superweapon upgrades and, when you're fully upgraded, drop exclusively packs of coins.

Hellfire Bomb

Inflicts Massive damage on all enemies within the line of sight.

A high amount of damage is dealt nearly screen-wide to all enemies that can take damage. This does not work for the sand worm in the desert levels.

Flamethrower

Continuously inflicts significant damage to targets in the facing direction.

Creates a beam of fire from your character extending out quite far. This deals high damage to whoever your character is facing but takes time to turn with your character.

Hellfreeze Bomb

Inflicts moderate damage and freezes all enemies within the line of sight.

Does the exact same thing as the hellfire bomb but freezes enemies in its radius instead.

Elixir

Restores a certain amount of HP.

It explains itself really.

Kwent Cards

Cards imbued with magical powers.

Picking this up gives you the choice of 3 Kwent cards. When picked up from the floor, the cards are face down and you pick at random. If you're obtaining a card from a Traveller, they will be face up.

Boss: Anubis, Stone Giant

Hidden Bosses
Some monsters in the game cannot be archived until they are found by investigating secret areas in the map.

Bratos L. Butcher
In his archive entry, Bratos L. Butcher is supposedly available in every one of the main twelve levels. Unfortunately, I personally have never encountered him in any of them - only unlocking him by playing in the Land of Erosion: Erosion • Endless Battlefield.
Any information on how to unlock him in the main levels would be greatly appreciated.

Frost King Crab
The Frost King Crab is only found after you investigate a large fish cadaver in the frozen lakes in the Dragonroar Foothills levels.
When you are in one of the icy levels, click Tab to bring up your map. If you go approximately ten squares down from the top of the grid, then move left/right until you find the frozen lakes, you should come across the large dead fish. Click E to investigate it, and this will summon the Frost King Crab.

Earth Devourer
Earth Devourer is only found after you investigate a small volcano-like structure in the Divine Desert levels.
When you are in one of the desert levels, click Tab to bring up your map. If you travel to the point of the grid that is fourteen squares up and fourteen squares to the right from the bottom left corner, you should be able to find and investigate the small volcano-like structure near that area. Investigating this will summon the Earth Devourer.
Character Lore Pages
While you progress through the game as a certain character, you discover more about them and their past through unlockable Lore pages. Unlocking these pages also unlocks Talent Nodes for whichever character you are progressing as - allowing you to further upgrade their skilltree, or 'Talents'.

Lillia's Lore
but when she is in the presence of strangers, those who witness her swinging the colossal hammer effortlessly with one hand may find their initial smiled turning to awe and respect.

Inu Kage's Lore
ended up with literally nothing more than a piece of deadwood.
have not encountered any to rival Your Majesty, prudence is always advised should Your Majesty tread upon this land. At present, a means of return eludes me, leaving me with no choice but to send this missive to humbly ask for Your Majesty's forgiveness as I strive to uncover more of the Realm's mysteries.

Your Majesty's Humble Servant.

Emberfire's Lore
Solar Period, Full Moon: The big fella is a pretty quick learner. Who could have guessed that I might have a worthy successor to my meager skills.

Solar Period, Last Quarter: Those darn monsters are a pain in the neck when they tried to wreck my shabby blacksmith shop. I'm glad I have the big fella, heheh.

Stellar Period, Last Quarter: The big fella is almost fixed...should equip it with stuff...can't allow it to be bullied...(The rest of the journal is charred with burn marks from a red-hot iron.)

Doridori's Lore

Augustine's Lore
In just a matter of years, Augustine climbed the ranks from a foot-soldier to become an adjutant general with over a hundred battles under his belt. Therefore, the king was inclined to personally award him the rank of general, and the kingdom's prized possession - the Sacred Sword of Dawn.
Augustine easily took hold of the weapon, thanks to his unsurpassed skills in the continent. With the sword in his hands, the man and weapon gazed in silence at each other. Gradually, the look in Augustine's eyes turned from bewilderment to determination, and the sword in his hands seemed to shake in response. From that moment on, the guardian's sword would no longer commit to any one nation or individual.

Aldreya's Lore

My fletched arrows shall fix their souls

Aster's Lore

Elena's Lore

This section will show you the full talent trees for each character and what they do. Talents are unlocked in stages when completing the lore pages for each character. It is worth focusing on weapon upgrades and the 2-upgrade nodes as they provide upgrades that are unique to that character.

Land of Erosion
Erosion • Frontline of Dawn
In this level, you will be in the Serene Desert, however will not have any environmental effects. For two minutes, you will only be pitted against slimes. These slimes will drop Tier II XP gems upon being defeated, allowing speedy levelling up in order to get superweapons as fast as possible.
Once the two minutes are up, five random bosses from past levels will spawn one after the other, each one dropping coins and a Kwent card.

Erosion • Endless Battlefield
In this level, you are in an environment like none in any other level, and the goal is simple: Survive for as long as possible. Almost every monster you have encountered will appear to battle you, and every boss you have encountered has a chance to randomly appear. The longer you survive, the more environmental effects, buffs, and debuffs will occur.

Ero■■ • Endless Infil■■■■
In this level, you are in the same environment as Endless Battlefield, and the goal is the same: Survive for as long as possible. In this level, you are endlessly barraged with monsters and enemies, bosses spawning more frequently, and no player buffs concurring as you play. The longer you last, the more buffs that enemies receive, and the more environmental effects occur.

Erosion • Road of Madness (1.0 Update)
This is a non-endless Erosion level that throws as many enemies as it can at you over the course of 12 minutes. A level-ending boss is spawned every 3 minutes whilst minions continue to spawn, and at the 12 minute mark the final boss spawns and minions stop spawning. Enemies are extremely buffed in this level and bosses get harder for each one that spawns. It is recommended to use a high defense character and focus your starting weapon to have a chance.

Follow the lore pages for existing characters and beat new stages. This guide has not and likely will not be updated to reflect the changes in 2.0 so as far as the new ones go, I don't know.

How exactly do you unlock all the additional characters?

It did. Many thanks!

Events are *any* symbol on the map and going up to them clears an event. i.e. the item shops that reward you a weapon are counted as an event. Best to load into some of the later levels and start clearing the map. Hope this helps
