Introduction
This guide is aimed towards players struggling to unlock the "Survivor" achievement the intended way - completing the game without dying or restarting levels.

If you've played the game for a bit you'll probably be familiar with how easy it is to accidentally kill yourself by making a simple jump or just not paying attention. The game is ~2-3 hours in length and dying near the end can be extremely infuriating. Thus, unlocking the achievement the intented way (and "wasting" hours upon hours in the process) may not be everyone's cup of tea.
Disabling Steam Cloud Syncing
As stated, it's not possible to just restart a level once you die since this will void the achievement. Instead, we will be creating backup saves throughout the run acting as checkpoints.

Firstly, we need to turn off the Steam Cloud Saves so that our manual backups doesn't get overwritten. Do this by heading to the steam settings and making sure "Enable Steam Cloud" is turned off.

Getting the achievement
To start working towards the achievement, follow these steps.

Making manual checkpoints:
  • Start a new game
  • Play through the game for as long as you want, when you feel that you want to save your progress, quit the game (keep in mind that you'll save at the latest checkpoint).
  • Head to Users/AppData/Local/Bramble_TMK/Saved/SaveGames and copy the .sav file onto your desktop or anywhere you'd like. Don't mind the .vdf file, just leave it be.

  • Start the game again and continue playing, whenever you feel like saving your progress, just repeat the steps above and remember to delete your old backup to prevent mixing them up.

If you die:
  • Exit the game and refresh the SaveGames folder
  • Delete the save file
  • Copy and paste your most recent backup into the folder
  • Start the game and continue playing.

Do this until you beat the final boss, and the achievement is yours!
Tips & tricks
  • Keep an eye out on the save symbol to know when it's safe to make a backup during, for example, a fight with multiple phases without losing too much progress.
  • It can be handy looking through a playthrough of a certain boss fight or section of the game beforehand so that you're prepared for potential dangers and/or tricky boss mechanics.
  • During the Pesta boss fight (3 phases) it's safe to make a manual backup before each phase so that you don't have to make it through all 3 in one go.
  • During the Mountain King fight, it's safe to make a manual backup once he swaps weapons after the first phase. During the second phase you can make another backup after he smacks his two weapons together (when it glows purple). Just keep an eye out for the save icon after this attack is carried out.
