'Etermes' - the hardest difficulty from 'Terror from the Void' mode. The description tells us about desperation - and it's genuinely true. You should not start the game on this difficulty unless you're quite experienced player. Moreover, you shouldn't start in case you're not ready to do your best to beat unbeatable challenge.

The enemies will be always better than your operatives. You will be always late and always lose something: resources, havens, people. You need to accept the fact: it's ultimative ordeal which will require all your skills, knowledge, bravery. The oost important trait I'd like to mention - you have to have indomitable will.

Many were failed. Many refused to continue. Many blamed the game and it's mechanics. You need to be better, and you need to overcome yourself. Let's fight!
Strategy

  • You have to use all your 8 operatives on the mission. In case you are allowed to use 9 - use 9. Yes, they will get less experience, but more important - they will get skill points.
  • Always equip your solders as much as possible - they're trying to save the world, so help them! Provide grenades, heal, additional weapons for close, mid, long range scenarios.
  • Use mutoids as a expendable resource - keep your original soldiers alive.

  • Keep in mind that augmentation require resources for repair - so upgrade your soldiers gradually, do not spend too much resources on cybernetics upgrades.
  • Always spare resources for some unexpected events.
  • Never exchange tech/materials for food - you're able to feed yourself, so don't seek help for such misery.
  • Tech resource is the best resource. Always choose it on resources missions as a top priority.
  • You want to have spare airplane for exchaching resources purpose.

  • In the late game do not to try to save heavens - pandorans too strong, go straight to final mission.
  • Do not try to intercept Behemoth flyers - we don't have time and resources for it.
  • Destroying Behemoth is relatively easy mission with enormous reward - in case of possibility complete this quest.
  • Accept 'Pure' missions yet you may skip 'Whispers'.

  • Befriend with factions as soon as possiblle.
  • New Jericho is the best choice because of piercing, vehicle, techicians.
  • Anu is acceptable choice as well: mutations, acid, priests.
  • No reasons to rely on Sinedrion - better buy/reverse their technologies.
  • No matter what - you have to have several Archangels, Ragnarok, turrets for final mission.

  • Best start location: China, Afganistan, Siberia.
  • Consider to upgrade your bases rather than activating them.
  • Never hesitate and go as fast as you can for base protection missions.
  • Do not activate more than 5 bases, otherwise it will be difficult to protect them.
  • All your bases have to be close to each other within 20 hours distance to fly.

  • Use fast soldiers for Pandorans Nests.
  • Use artillery for Pandorans Spawneries.
  • Never go to Pandoran Citadel: it doesn't worth it; You will waste bunch of resources, soldiers, time.
Progression
  • For early game you have to have fully loaded Manticore 1 (6 solders / 3 soldiers + Scarab) + 2 soldiers on Manticore 2.
  • For mid game you have to have 4 aircrafts (6 + 6 + 2 + 2).
  • For late game you have to have at least 4 aircraft with Passengers module (for soldiers swapping).

  • Obtain second plane as soon as possible.
  • Do not steals airships - you don't want to ruin your reputation. Manticore is quite cheap, especially in early game, so build it. After that you will get 6 soldiers on Manticore 1 + 2 soldiers on Manticore 2.
  • Build at least 3 factories and 5 tech labs, it will be enough until mid game. Winthin mid game to late game you need to build approximately 5 factories and 9 tech labs.
  • Buy a mercenary in the early game, preferrably Old Hound (Heavy) - they have decent bug gun and they have jet pack for resources missioins.

  • Build at least two Scarabs, it is really useful through all game.
  • Armadillio or Junker are also appropriate choice for vehicles.
  • Use Reload and Steady Stance for Scarabs as a default gameplay.
  • In the late game use beasts in case you have enough mutagen. They require only 2 capacity, they can heal via killing, they go to frenzy, they easy to reproduce. They are slow - that's awful, so it will be not fun to play with them.

  • Build1/2/3 Training Center - yes, it will be enough, all your fellows will be busy on the missions.
  • Consider to obtain ancient guns: it's the best weapon in the game.

  • Learn everything that connected with blast as soon as possible: Neural Implant tech, Vidar Grenade Launcher, Phoenix Grenade Launcher. Remember: distance and blast - your best friends!
  • Build Cybernetics as soon as possible and upgrade your soldiers. All upgrades are useful. But expensive! So prepare yourself - accumulate resources before go to mid game.
  • You never will have enough resources, so try to build Mutation lab - use mutations in case augmentation is not possible for now.

  • Cure your soldiers from Delirium: we need to prevent spawn of 'Mark of the Void'.
  • In the late game athrons often will use 'Call reinforments'. Remember about it: kill corresponding acherons. Don't shot enemies in case you won't kill them until the of the turn.
  • 'Marked for death' triggered by 'Mark of the Void' is the weakest curse: consider yourself lucky, that's cuse won't hurt you much.
Classes

  • Assault + Heavy = decent and understandable choice, fast and powerful.

  • Assault + Sniper = quite good back-line support and headhunter.
  • Assault + Berseker = variable and useful choice, need to have many willpoints.
  • Assault + Infiltrator = you want to use it, reliable and tenacious dangerous guy.
  • Assault + Techician = still variative and supportive soldier, quite useful.
  • Assault + Priest = might be useful as a screamer, cannot recommend.

  • Heavy + Sniper = good, good! Really good choice.
  • Heavy + Berseker = living tank, can survive no matter what (verified many times).
  • Heavy + Infiltrator = with grenade laucher and neural implants is accceptable choice.
  • Heavy + Techician = use it for turrel spawning and as vehicle healer.
  • Heavy + Priest = well... don't think it's appropriate choice.

  • Sniper + Berseker = surprisingly really effective with pistols.
  • Sniper + Infiltrator = we need it and it's necessary choice.
  • Sniper + Techician = back-line supporter. Stealth, healer, speed - what we need else?
  • Sniper + Priest = with Judgement Head is not a bad choice.

  • Berseker + Infiltrator = sweety, but will require a lot of spell points to complete the build.
  • Berseker + Techician = awesome choice: fast and variation gameplay.
  • Berseker + Priest = with Screaming head is not a bad choice.

  • Infiltrator + Techician = no cases to use, we have more decent choices.
  • Infiltrator + Priest = with Screaming head is not a bad choice.
Tactics

  • Covers are important - always use them, never stay on the open field.
  • Frequently covers will not protect - you have to figure out a safe position: inside a building, behind Heavy solder, using a shield, etc.
  • Pay attention to enemies with grenage launchers - common covers are not always particularly for this weapon.

  • In original game rifles were quite good. In the 'TftV' you should not rely on rifles: any other weapon will be better.
  • Use rifles only as second weapon for finishing an enemy from mid distance.
  • Grenade launchers is the best weapon against at least every enemy.
  • Heavy weapon is useful for stun and against vehicles.
  • Snipers rifles still the best solution for mid and long distance.
  • Always have piercing and armor-breaking weapons.

  • In case operative's limb is disabled - they will lose stamina fully on the end of the mission.
  • You never want to lose full stamina, so be careful! As I said - use covers, machines, distractions, grenades - everything that can provide cover and necessary distance.
  • Always keep in mind how close your enemies. They must never touch you - they hit really hard. Once you get shotguns - only after that carefully use it, with distractions, grenades and artillery support.
  • Use grenades - it's the best weapon in the game. Grenades tear apart your enemies, grenades are precise, greanades are cheap. Throw grenades over the walls. Use it as a last useful weapon in case one arm is damaged.
  • 'Odin Grenade' is helpful until late game. Only in the late game I switched to 'Mjolnir Grenade' as a better and more expensive version. 'Imhullu Grenade' is not bad as well, but do not rely on it too much: it requires enemies' low hp for stun or big enemies for acid. All other grenades don't worth spent resources.

  • Vehicles is still amazingly effective, but they are much more vulnerable now.
  • Never allow gunners to hit your vehicle: their rifles and guns can provide more than 300 damage hitpoins for 1 turn for vehicle.
  • Use vehicles for destroying myrmidons, worms, turrets. Be careful with acid/venomous myrmidons!

  • Always use distractions (worms, decoys, heaven citiciens), especially in the late game.
  • Never try to rush: ponder all your moves each turn.
  • For early/mid game - get all resources packs on resources missions. It's mandatory.
  • Do not try to save soldiers on help missions - they will die eventually.
  • Do not try to kill enemies - will be enough to make them helpless. Destroy their limbs, weapon, will.

  • Destroying enemies weapon is default and easiest tactic. Don't try to kill enemies: you can destroy their weapon, it's much easier.
  • Disabling arm is game-changing move: usually it will be enough to get rid off enemy.
  • Disabling leg is distance control move.
  • Disabling head has no much potential except you have priest.

  • On 'Etermes' new enemies (arrived from the map borders) are acting immediately. So always expect backstabs: use covers and overwatch.
  • Losing soldiers is normal. Acceptable scenario is to lose approximately 8 soldiers for whole game.
  • Always to try paralyze pandorans for containment in case most dangerous enemies are already destroyed.
Enemies

  • Forsaken: their power in their numbers. Kill them via blast weapons: their will will be destroyed.
  • Pure: try to disable their arms with Jericho piercing sniper rifle. As a default tactic: destroy their weapon in their hands.

  • New Jericho: go inside buildings, we need to use close combat against them. Avoid missiles and don't stay on the same place long enough. Pay attention to turrent and their return fire.
  • Anu: avoid close combat, destroy brutes weapon and legs/heads for priests. Always keep distance.
  • Synedrion: they are invisible, they are fast, they have daze damage. Never stay on the open field, use covers wisely, go to high ground to minimize the damage.

  • Wretch/Poacher: disable their limbs and try kill them, they have low hp.
  • Thug/Hitman/Marksman: as usual they come from nowhere and kill your soldiers in one shot.
  • Footpad/Manic: vehicle killers, can disable our soldiers' limbs easy enough.
  • Ghoul/Ghost: might be annoying, but consider them as a lowest priority for kill.

  • Brute/Shieldbreaker: destroy their arm and spit head.
  • Gunner/Scoruge/Dragon: destroy them in one turn, they have low hp but dangerous guns.
  • Tyrant/Bane : can kill your soldiers in one shot. Disable their guns/heads and try to mind control them.

  • Siren: all of their variations is dangerous. Always keep in mind 'Psychic scream' and 'Mind control'.
  • Myrmidons: diable their torso. They can ruin your perfect match.
  • Umbra: Kill it! KILL IT! Fast, strong, tenacious guys. You never want to meet with them.
  • Scilla: either you lose against it or spend all of your resources and imagination to kill it.
Misc

Junker with Jet Booster can deal with explosive enemies via running by. Just order to move in potint outside of myrmidon death splashes.

Synedrion infiltrator can be used for more interesting combos due they have Saboteur perk, which grant 1 AP discount. With technician multiclass that soldier can easily place and relocate turrets almost with no AP spending.

By the way, there is no mention how faction abilities on units can impact, as example above mentioned synedrion infiltrator. Also Slug mercenary is pretty separate type of unit with gimmicks.
