Introduction
Mods in Gemcraft can seem overwhelming but I'm here to make it simple and easy to understand. It took me awhile to figure out how exactly to get these mods in the game and this guide will teach you how to easily also. It's not as complicated as it sounds, and the videos online will have you gasping for 20 minutes as people create spreadsheets and do craziness but it's actually a lot more simpler than you would think!

What are mods? Mods are not what you would think-- they are not modifications but rather ingame features which when unlocked allow for certain things to occur. Most all of them are good with benefit and will be essential for you to climb to wave 300+ levels. Here is a quick list of every mod and what they do, there are 12 mods in total.
Mod Descriptions
Horizontally flipped fields - cosmetic
Vertically flipped fields - cosmetic
Monster egg hunt - places 24~37 monster eggs on the map
Wealthy monsters - 6% chance of each monster dropping shadow cores, xp or mana if it wouldn't drop anything otherwise
Omnibeacons - replaces beacons with Omnibeacons
Green blood - cosmetic
Explosive orblets - causes orblets to explode
Spell preparation - all spells charged at battle start
Wasp filled shells - barrage enhancement creates gem wasps
Gray trees - cosmetic
Heavy Weather - more frequent weather effects
Deep learning gems - reduces hit level requirements
Obtaining Mod Keys
How can I get these for my game? Basically you need to get to about 80% total game completion or so (pretty much once you've gotten the "B" levels, nearing the spiritforge), once you attain the lowest map fragment you'll notice a frame appear around the map. This frame will have blacked-out buttons on the topside and bottom, topside being the 12 mod buttons and the bottom being symbols of the 1-12 gem levels.

To get the mods you must discover codes hidden within 36 achievements, and sorry but the moderators went through great lengths to make sure these codes are unique per game save, so other peoples' codes will not work for you. Within your game, click the "Achievements" button, then scroll to the very bottom of the list. Game will specify for you easily which 36 achievements have these keys. I am not going to state them at this time because at the very end of this guide I'm going to post my solutions which will also have the names of the achievements. But recommend you use the in-game filtering as it's easy and with there being like 600+ achievements you can waste a lot of time searching. When you hover over these achievements they won't be like the other achievements, you'll notice black shapes of gems also.

And this is where it gets fun. These shapes represent the 1-12 gem levels, if you're confused which is which at the bottom of the world once the frame appears they are shown in order from left to right as their shape order of gems one to twelve. We need every code from these 36 achievements, personally I snapped a pic with my phone then translated them, meaning I turned the gem shapes into numbers. Saying "7" instead of shape #7. To make it more easier to understand. Highly recommend you do the same. We want to change all 36 of these codes into 5 digit numbers.

The primary hint for the mods is in the credits, it shows the codes and how they are to be combined. You must take the first 5, middle 1, then last 5 of the code to create the mod key and unlock the mod. To figure out which numbers should go together is actually quite simple, and in my posting of the solutions I found for myself below notice the sequence. For example,

Can't Stop 1 9 10 5 3
Double Sharded 5 3 3 3 12
Multiline 3 12 11 8 1

Codes will always begin and end with a 1. So if you find an ending of 1, or a beginning of 1. You know where they should be placed easily. Every one can be sequenced from the first, you want the proceeding code to contain the last 2 numbers of the following. Meaning "1 9 10 5 3" ends with "5 3" so the next line must be beginning with "5 3" as same for the following, because "5 3 3 3 12" ends with "3 12" the next line must begin with "3 12". It's actually a lot simpler than people make it sound and wanted to clarify this for anyone struggling like I did to understand what the heck was going on.

To use the code, you use it like this:

Can't Stop 1 9 10 5 3
Double Sharded 3
Multiline 3 12 11 8 1

Meaning you omit the first two and last two numbers of the middle line, so your code is 11 numbers exactly. For example this code would be entered in as "1 9 10 5 3 3 3 12 11 8 1". To use this key, you must click the 12 button on the bottom of the map frame in the sequence shown, 11 numbers each in the right order and it will unlock the mods for you. The buttons don't glow or really respond as you click them so make sure you're inserting the right sequence. If you mess it up, I recommend reloading from main screen and starting fresh again. Good luck!

@ionah no, i think they are random. Don't assume to know which mod you'll be unlocking with any said found key. All the guides I watched didn't even mention specifics. Personally the wealthy mob drops was the 2nd to last unlock for me.

Straight forward Guide ! :steamhappy:
Thank you, I can now start using Mods after x years owning that game...

And can we assume that the keys listed in §4 are ranked in the same order than the mods listed in §2 ?
