About Laser Maiden 2
Laser Maiden 2 is a mini game in Graze Counter GM. It's available from the Extra Mode menu.

2 achievements are tied to this mode:
  • Laser Master: Earn a score of 30000 points in Laser Maiden 2 mini game.
  • PERFECT: Earn 100000 points in the Laser Maiden 2 mini game.

It's possible that this mode must be unlocked first, e.g. by clearing the game a certain number of times. If you have more information about this, let me know, and I'll add it to this guide. ;)
Controls, Basic Mechanics, and Scoring
Laser Maiden 2 is a simple game where you play as Hayate Katori from the Graze Counter games. The goal is to gain a high score by shooting enemies that drop down from the top of the screen. If you get hit once, it's game over.

Controls
  • Left / right: Move the character left or right.
Wraparound: The left and right border of the screen are connected, like in Pac Man. So if you move past the right border, you arrive at the left side, and vice-versa.
  • Shot button: Shoot upwards.
  • Down: Crouch. There doesn't seem to be any benefit for this, since you can neither shoot nor move while crouching.
(there's no pause button - if you want to leave this mode, you need to get hit by something, so the game ends)

Mechanics & Scoring
If you hit an enemy, you are awarded 100 points, and it is turned into a "spirit".
Shooting a spirit will defeat enemies which are in the same "row" (or a bit further up / down). Defeating enemies by shooting a spirit will give you 500 points per defeated enemy.

If an enemy reaches the ground, it just sits there, blocking Hayate's way, since she dies if she runs into it.

Enemy Types
Apart from the default enemy, there are 2 special enemy types:
  • Red enemies shoot 3 projectiles downwards.
  • Flashing enemies clear the screen of all enemies if you defeat them, including enemies that sit on the ground. You get 100 points per defeated enemy that was still in the air.

Game Progression
As the game progresses, the frequency of enemies appearing increases, as well as the speed at which they descend from the top.

Ways to Die
There are 3 ways how Hayate can die:
  • Getting hit by a descending enemy.
  • Running into an enemy on the ground.
  • Getting hit by a projectile from a red enemy.
Strategies
Here are some basic strategies:
  • Try to defeat enemies by shooting the spirits. This will give you 500 points per defeated enemy, instead of just 100 points. And this way, you can defeat enemies that are further away from you.
  • Make use of the wraparound, to get faster where you want to be. Just be careful not to run into enemies on the ground, which can quickly happen if you are not careful!
  • Make sure to defeat enemies that would greatly decrease your mobility if they drop to the ground!
  • At the early stage of the game, shooting a flashing enemy as early as possible is a little better for scoring.
  • Later in the game, it becomes incredibly important to defeat flashing enemies, in order to clear the screen, and to get a lot of points.
Some spirits ascend slower than others; it can be useful to refrain from shooting a slow spirit immediately, so you can use it later to defeat a flashing enemy, when it appears.
  • Shooting red enemies early means you don't have to deal with the projectiles.

Good luck!! :)
Closing Comment
I know that most players probably aren't interested that much in the mini game. But this guide was quick to write, and some people care about the achievements, so I thought I can save other people the time to figure out the mechanics. :)

If I made a mistake somewhere, or if you want to add some info, don't hesitate to add a comment! ;)

This mini game unlocks as soon as you unlock all the ships (by finished the game with certain ships). You don't need to finish the game with all of them before unlocking new ones.

For similar ships which I call "pairs" (like Type-5/6, basically alt Type-1/2), you only need to finish the game with one of them.
