SIS Water Collectors

Patch notes
  • Added Container Water Collector.
  • Added Makeshift Water Collector.

What is this?
This mod allows you to collect water from the rain by placing bottles/containers inside water collectors while it's raining, although not very fast. You can also use them as community-wide water deposits. The rate at which bottles fill with water depends on the intensity of the rain.

You can tweak the settings to increase the speed at which bottles fill with water.

Can be added to current saves.

Recipes
  • Build Water Collector. (Barrel). Toolbox recipe. Requires 1 Tarp + 1 Plastic Barrel + 1 Wood and Construction lvl 1.
  • Build Water Collector (Container). Toolbox recipe. Requires 1 Tarp + 1 Plastic Container + 1 Wood and Construction lvl 1.
  • Build Water Collector (Makeshift). Toolbox recipe. Requires 2 Rag + 2 Wood.

Settings
  • RainFillRate. The rate at which the bottles/container will fill with water. (default 1.0)
  • RainFillInterval. Interval in seconds when fbottles/containers will fill with water. (default 1)

Notes
Not sure how it behaves in co-op, use at own risk.

Compatibility
Shouldn't have any incompatibilities. Report any problems in the comments section!

Mod doesn't work with game v239. The following error is displayed:

Error (v239): Load resource failed: assets/sweetcaptn/watercollectors/tarp.prefab UnityEngine.Debug:LogError (object)

Hey,
Seems that big collector do not work (the one from like ICB tank).
Have that one and barrel one, both with bottles and barrel one does collect water but big one didn't.
Now, not sure if this was why, but someone put plank of wood inside it so it could be a reason.

If you place one of these collectors on the ground, it will collect water from rainfall. There must be an empty container (or one with water that's isn't full) inside of it's Inventory. If you want dirty water, you can use the SIS Dirty Water mod, but this water is always going to be clean

i dont understand, is the water gonna be 'dirty', from reading the comments, and what does it do,

I tried using the water collectors by first building them up then, I left them up for about 2 rains and one snowfall, however - it seems like these barrels I leave doesn't collect rain for me.

Strange case, but since I got a butt-load of mods installed to this game, I feel like that's the reason why this doesn't work for me. ;/

Good mod, if dirty water and water treatment through boiling or evaporation was added as well, I'd say it belongs in the base game.

Hey there. Sorry for the unrelated comment.

I was just wondering if its ever possible to create a mod that lets you choose a new map via the RNG generator you have when creating your first map.
The vanilla " leave map " option is in my opinion very bad, throwing you on maps with either 200% cities and 2% loot, or 21 communities with 9/10 invisible strain.

Its to random to be ever fun.
I would love if leaving the map would throw you on the RNG world creator and just slap the effects on the choosen side on top.

I see, that's really cool anyway, your mods are good quality

Hmm yeah, maybe Ill make a mod down the line adding Dirty Water, maybe disabling different water sources.. But the point is just giving players a choice, planning on expanding the whole outdoor camping theme ;)

That's really nice but what's the point when you can get "clean" water out of any water puddle, river or just build a well?
