Some things to consider about using this trick:

The female cosmetics aren't finished, so you can wear bugged clothes in some cases
There is minor nsfw content on certain female models due to these bugs
This guide involves modifying config files, which if done incorrectly may break the game

How to play as a woman

Step 1. Find the games folder

(C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ale & Tale Tavern First Pints)

Right click on the game in your steam library and select Manage > Browse Local Files

Step 2. Modify the config file

Open the 'Ale and Tale Tavern_Data' folder
Open 'settings.json' in notepad or another text editor
Scroll to the bottom and under "avatar" change the body field from 0 to 2 (1 also works but seems buggy)
Save the file and close it

Step 3. Checking the results

Reopen the game and select 'Avatar' in the main menu and your character should now be a woman

Does add some interesting bugs. I couldn't see what was in my hotbar, showed I had zero gold, and the merchant ignored me. Just like in real life! j/k

interesting, did the women have nipples? only wondering cause it's always funny to find out how for animators went with designs including details that are never meant or will ever be seen.
