Multiple camp slots and pets
You ABSOLUTETLY can have a unique pet at EACH camp slot! Here's how:

If you have Camp Slot A out and have a pet tamed to it, and switch to Camp Slot B - eventually the pet at Camp A WILL run to Camp B BUT you can prevent that if you want a different pet at Camp B by doing the following:

With Camp A out (or what ever camp you currently have in world with a pet), equip your Animal Friend perk and go hunting.

Once you have found the pet you want, switch to the Camp B Loadout and drop your Camp B Module near the pet you want to tame and THEN tame it quick!

(If it tells you that "Taming the pet will replace the current tame" you weren't fast enough and should switch back to Camp A, give it a minute and then redeploy Camp B and tame immediately!)

3. This will lock the new pet to Camp B and you can safely swap between loadouts and have unique pets at each!

4. Once you have a new pet locked to Camp B you can then move it anywhere you like with the pet attached! (See "Please Note" below!)

5. Rinse and repeat with each of your FIVE camp slots for a new buddy at each camp!

(I currently have a Mirelurk King at one, a Deathclaw at another and a Snallygaster at a third! It is totally possible and WAY easier than it sounds!)

PLEASE NOTE

Sometimes, if you tame something in the The Mire and redeploy the camp in The Forest, you pet may change its appearance/variant AND it is even possible to have it spawn as Legendary! If you have a pet that runs between camps, it too may change as it moved through different areas!

If you have issues with how to do this. please feel free to comment on the post or message me directly! We are always happy to help you with finding a new buddy!

THIS MAP and attached gallery from u/marshasyn blows all old maps out of the water: Link to Map!!! They provide numbered locations as well as pictures of the exact area you need to be, PETS DO NOT REQUIRE ANY CAMP BUDGET! I TAME AT MAX BUDGET EACH TIME!

FRIENDLY FIRE will heal your pet! NOTE: Friendly Fire is currently bugged and only Molotovs will heal a pet still. It works the right way on all other things with specific weapons but - again - Bethesda forgot taming pets was a thing!

Also - animals you are attempting to tame MIGHT have red text but should still NOT aggro to you! Approach and tame with confidence!
The requirements
Animal Friend Perk Card Equipped

The card MUST be equipped BEFORE you go hunting for a tame in order for the encounter to even SPAWN a pet! According to dataminers' info: Looking at the encounter, it checks if a player that has Animal Friend equipped is within a 20,000 unit radius for it to trigger. So you have to have it on when you cross into this radius or it won't trigger.

(Rank 3 gives a 75% chance and better pet options - available at lvl 30) Wasteland Whisperer is NOT REQUIRED and is useless here. You will need at least 3 points in Charisma to equip it and once your pet has arrived safely at your camp you can unequip it - you don't need it to keep the pet)

An unscoped Gun or Melee weapon equipped. (Plain sights on a gun are fine)

A Specific Random Encounter location, such a the creatures spawn which you can find on certain wikis or other guide for creature spawns REFER TO THIS MAP OF THE SPAWNS https://imgur.com/gallery/fallout-76-taming-location-photos-uRMJopP

Server Hopping. If you don't find what you want, hop servers and keep going!

what to do?
Head to your chosen random encounter location. MAKE SURE THE ANIMAL IS REALLY ALONE! If you don't see a tamable there, clear the encounter if you can and move on to the next.

Once you have found something, approach the animal you wish to tame and you should get a TAME prompt. Press whatever key/button you see for Tame and confirm that you want to send it to your camp. If you only see pacify, get closer. You may have to get VERY close to some. If using an UNSCOPED gun (your gun can have none of the scope mods attached) you MIGHT be able to tame from a distance. Aim your gun (on PC its right click to pull it up to your face) and you may see a tame prompt from a distance. If you do not, continue to get closer until you do.

Once tamed it will show your player icon and name in front of it's name and take off running toward your C.A.M.P. and will run there IN REAL TIME taking roads whenever possible.

LET IT RUN BY ITSELF!!! You escorting it only makes its ability to catch aggro greater and may result in it dying on the way if you get mobbed.

Clearing encounters that don't have a tame speeds up the respawning and allows for more possibility! If you don't find anything to tame on the server you are on, swap and repeat the process. If the animal is NOT ALONE, you will not get a tame so clear the encounter and move on. We all want that Albino Deathclaw - but he's never alone!

Mega Sloths, Deathclaws and Kings tend to need you to be all up in their business to get the prompt - as in arms length. If all else fails, check the area to make sure it is actually alone. The Albino Deathclaw everyone is dying to tame ALWAYS spawns with Super Mutants....lurking somewhere.

If you tamed at the southeast corner of the map and your camp is in the northwest...it's gonna take a while. Also, if you tamed a Mega Sloth, even though it can scoot along at times, it's still not as fast as other animals. The same can be said for smaller animal tames.

You running with it will only draw more attention to it. Your pet's agro range shrinks by quite a bit to aid in its journey to your place. Let it run on its own! Don't bother with the "hop to a server where you can't place your C.A.M.P." nonsense to make it show up faster - this may result in its demise as well...just go do other Fallout things and your pet will show up when they are able.
what can you tame?
All the things that can be tamed vary by the perk you have on while trying to tame a creature

Animal Friend 1 allows taming of Beavers, Brahmin, Cats, Chicken, Dogs, Mirelurks, Mole rats, Opossum, Rabbits, Radrat pups, Radstag, Wolves

Animal Friend 2 allows taming of Mirelurk hunters, Mirelurk king, Radtoads, Snallygasters, Yao guai

and animal friend 3 allows you to tame Deathclaws and Mega sloth

Scorched Pets

Beware the Scorchbeast. These flying bats have magic fairy dust powder that can turn your non-scorched pet into a scorched version. This is a PERMANENT change to your pet. So, if you don't want that, make sure you don't camp near a place a Scorchbeast can pop up. This does include near TAME SPOTS as a random Scorchbeast attack is part of the random encounters that can occur. If you do get a Scorchbeast flying around your camp, put it down quickly and/or lure it away from your camp. If your turrets start attacking, he will start throwing dust down on your pet and everything else. No one wants that.

Scorched Variants are HIGHLY aggressive. They will attack NPCs, walls, crops, turrets BUT MAY NOT cause actual damage (except for anything attacking your camp!) they will just cycle through their attack animation and sounds! Thank you u/d_chec!* However, some reports state that some Scorched pets ARE causing CAMP damage - so TAME SCORCHED PETS WITH CAUTION! (There is a literal 50/50 split on this with the community!)
things to looks out for
As of 11/24/2020 patch notes for Patch 24: Animal Friend: Removed outdated level requirement wording from the Perk Card description. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE TWICE THE LEVEL OF THE CREATURE TO TAME ANYMORE!

Make sure your CAMP is on the server you are trying to tame on! If your CAMP can't be placed, your pet has nowhere to go. Thank you to u/sprtucker for the info and we appreciate your hard learned sacrifice!

ANIMALS MUST SPAWN ALONE: That Albino Deathclaw is one we are all after but it is NEVER alone. The animal must be the ONLY thing at the location. Always give it a minute for the Scene to play out!

If you only see PACIFY - get closer. I mean close enough for you to pet it and then try again. You should see the TAME pop up!
some tips or other help include
FRIENDLY FIRE will heal your pet!

Make sure your C.A.M.P. module is either on the ground or on a low to the ground/flat surface. When your pet spawns in with your C.A.M.P - if they have to drop from a height because your module is on the second floor of your house or on top of a vendor, your pet could die. I've recently had reports (March 2021) of folks being able to have cliffside homes with their pets surviving moving through the camp, of them being able to keep them in trees (saw a King there myself) and having them in spaceship camps above the ground! Though I personally don't recommend this, I give kudos to those that are able to have their pets in crazy places! No matter where you choose to let your buddy roam, be careful!

Your pet will patrol randomly around your C.A.M.P. module so consider where you want your pet to be. Having them patrol the back end of your camp might not be the place to show off the Deathclaw! They WILL get stuck on things and port around your camp, but make sure they have some room to roam as getting tangled under something can cause death too! Also they can wander and can spawn in odd places - if your camp is on a cliff sometimes they spawn at the base. Look around if you don't see them and don't panic! They are also great to have with Brahmin from the fertilizer resource for extra life and won't harm them!

Your pet will defend your C.A.M.P. but let's be realistic...a tamable chicken or beaver may not be the best pet for that task. Chose your companion wisely! If you have pacifist OFF other nefarious players can kill your pet TURN PACIFIST ON for the sake of your buddy. Mobs also can if there are many and they are high enough level. I tend to go for tankier pets because of this!

If you move your camp, your pet WILL MOVE TOO! It will WALK there in real time, again, but it will move!

BE PATIENT!! Sometimes you'll find what you want right off the bat, sometimes it can take days, just keep at it!
