This gives you a short overview about all encounters in the game, so you can complete the achievement "Extreme Prejudice" or the Bestiary more easily.

General Information
Update: I decided to take the pictures out, to make the guide load more quickly. I also adjusted the enemy numbers to reflect the Bestiary.

The guide lists all enemies in the game. The guide assumes that players reading this already know a lot about the quests and achievements in the game. Thus, information is kept relatively brief.

The most important characteristic is probably, if an encounter is "missable" or "exclusive".

Definition of "missable"
An encounter is called "missable" in this guide, if it fulfills two conditions at the same time:
- It can only be encountered once, for example during a quest.
- There is a way to solve the quest or event without triggering the fight.

As such, an encounter is not marked as "missable", if you can miss it by failing a quest, losing quest items or dying during a fight. It should be obvious, that failing quests or dying will generally lock you out of encounters.

Definition of "exclusive"
An encounter is called "exclusive" in this guide, if it fulfills the following condition:
- Doing the encounter will prevent you from doing another encounter in the same playthrough.
(Obviously, to get all information in the Bestiary unlocked, you could save before the exclusive encounter, do it, load the save and go a different route. However, that is technically not the same playthrough and will not count towards "Extreme Prejudice".)

4. Enchanted Tree

Condition: If you persuaded the tree to let you pass, you will miss this fight.

5. Ghoul
Location: Trading Post, Missable: Yes (but there are other locations)
Condition: If you banish the ghoul with a payer or the item, you will miss the fight.

6. Wereboar
Location: Coastal Road, Missable: No

7. Wild Boar
Location: Forest, Missable: Yes (but there is another location)
Condition: If you persuaded the tree to let you pass, you will miss this fight. But you can also find it in Golnir when fighting "51. Warthog".
Sokara
8. Black Dragon Knight
Location: Dragon Knights' Castle, Missable: Only if you fail to start the quest.
Condition: Do not fail the Combat check when first visiting Shadar Tor.

9. Blue Dragon Knight
Location: Dragon Knights' Castle, Missable: No

10. Cultist
Location: Yellowport, Missable: Yes
Condition: When you explore the city by night and choose the merchant storehouses, do not join the cult or you will miss the fight. You might have to visit the location twice to trigger the fight, depending on how you escape the trap.

11. Golem
Location: Caran Baru, Missable: Yes
Condition: Tied to the quest "The Golden Chain Mail". You only fight, if you either fail the magic or the combat check.

12. Gorlock
Location: Blessed Springs, Missable: Yes
Condition: Explore the hill and choose to fight the monster.

13. Green Dragon Knight
Location: Dragon Knights' Castle, Missable: No

14. Gryphon
Location: Devil's Peak, Missable: No
Note: Visit Devil's Peak multiple times. After beating the single Storm Demon, you will encounter two Gryphons.

15. Ker'ilk
Location: Coastal Waters (between Holy Waters and Isle of Druids), Event 10-12 "A shipwreck".
Missable: Yes
Condition: You can only trigger the fight when you roll the event for the very first time. If you ignore the shipwreck, you miss the fight.

16. King Skabb
Location: Yellowport Sewers, Missable: Yes
Condition: It is possible to kill King Skabb without triggering a fight.

17. Mad Pilgrim
Location: East Road, Missable: No

18. Man with Eyepatch
Location: Caran Baru, Missable: Yes
Condition: Tied to the quest "an eye for an eye", you can assassinate him without a fight.

Condition: Only doable if you are on the Book of the Seven Sages quest. You can try multiple times even after picking the book up. You need to pass the thievery check, but fail the magic check to encounter the shaman.
Additional Note: If you want to fight Kaimren (much later, DLC content), on one of your attempts you need to pass the magic check to get the codeword "afraid".

26. She-Devil
Location: Uphill (Nerech), Missable: No

27. Sokaran Militiaman
Location: Fort Mereth, Missable: No

28. Sokaran Soldier

29. Storm Demon
Location: Devil's Peak, Missable: No
Note: Visit Devil's Peak before or after the Lord of Thunder quest.

31. Tomb Guardian

Condition: When you investigate the Tomb of the Wizard King (requires the password from Dweomer), you only trigger the fight, if you fail the magic or the thievery check.

32. Trickster
Location: Stinking River, Missable: Yes
Condition: Help the villagers, confront the ghosts and fight them.

33. Wolf
Location: Crustmoor (subsequent visits) or Main Road (near the Citadel of Velis Corin)
Missable: No

34. Angry Knight
Location: Main Road (just south of Wheatfields), Missable: No
Note: After rescuing the damsel in the event on East Road, just north of Haggart's Corner, the knight will get angry and attack.

35. Armoured Samurai
Location: Magwort Fens (subsequent visit), Missable: No
Note: After beating the scouting check for the second time, you will encounter this fight.

36. Assassin
Location: Castle Ravayne, Missable: Yes (see alternative location)
Condition: After accepting the quest "Intrigue and Treachery", but before gathering the required clues, you can accuse Sir Gargin. This will trigger the fight.

36. Assassin (alternative)
Location: Ringhorn, Missable: No
Note: To trigger the fight you need to be an initiate of Sig and then renounce your worship. The fight only triggers, if you fail the thievery check, but succeed the subsequent scouting check.

37. Barrow Wight
Location: Hinterlands (north of Clifftop), Missable: No
Note: If you run or banish it by calling on the gods, the fight does not trigger. However, you can return and choose again.

38. Dragon
Location: Haunted Hills, Missable: No

39. Ekushka
Location: Clifftop, Missable: No
Note: Go down to the beach and wait.

40. Elf Lady
Location: Forsaken Forest, Missable: No (if you are willing to lower your sanctity)
Note: At the banquet, if you decide to wait and watch, you need to fail the thievery check and your base sanctity (sanctity score without items, potions, curses or diseases) needs to be 5 or lower. Also be aware, that everything you are carrying is lost after you win the fight.

6. Wereboar (alternative)
Location: Forsaken Forest, Missable: No
Note: Encountered with the Elf Lady.

41. Enraged Bull
Location: Open Country (north-west of Goldfall), Missable: No
Note: If you roll the fair, you could lose all the shards you are carrying.

42. Faery Wolf
Location: Forsaken Forest, Missable: No
Note: At the (real) Tower of Despair. Even if you used the Green Medallion before, you can return and do the fight.

43. Giant Spider
Location: Forsaken Forest, Missable: No
Note: You need to leave the path and fail the subsequent scouting check to have a chance to get this fight. Be aware that there are nasty events here that require you to drop a lot of items. The best course is to use the White Sword trick. If you take damage during the fight, you will take additional 1-6 damage after the fight.

44. Goblin Slinger
Location: Whistling Heath, Missable: No
Note: Go west three times to start the fight. Immediately after the fight, goblins will throw rocks, which could cause more damage and potentially kill you if your stamina or defence are low.

45. Hydra
Location: Spine of Harkuna (North-east of Haunted Hills), Missable: No
Note: This monster is highly venomous. If you take any damage you will die, unless you have a blessing.

46. Jewelled Serpent
Location: Forsaken Forest, Missable: No
Note: You need to leave the path and fail the subsequent scouting check to have a chance to get this fight. Be aware that this area has nasty events that make you drop items (unavoidable) or lose charisma (on a failed magic check).

47. Ogre
Location: Old Road (between Wheatfields and Goldfalls), Missable: No

48. Silent Knight
Location: Forsaken Forest, Missable: Yes
Condition: If you use the information from Tekshin Tavern, you will bypass the fight.

49. Sir Fontesque
Location: Castle Ravayne, Missable: Yes
Condition: After accepting the quest "Intrigue and Treachery", but before gathering the required clues, you can accuse Sir Fontesque. Once you gather the clues or finish the quest, this is not possible anymore.
Note: Accusing the (probably innocent) Sir Fontesque has no negative effect at all.

50. Troll
Location: Whistling Heath, Missable: No
Note: Go west three times to start the fight. Immediately after the fight, goblins will throw rocks, which could cause more damage and potentially kill you, if your stamina or defence are low.

51. Warthog
Location: Magwort Fens, Missable: No
Note: You need to fail the scouting check when entering the area.

Note: To encounter the hangman, you first need to get cursed. Do this by investigating the crags another time. While not being able to find an entrance, you will trigger the curse. Be careful when doing this fight, because the Hangman will reduce your ability scores every time he hits you. To get rid of the curse, you need to visit Holyamu. The Tower of Bakhan in Yarimura does not work.

82. Toad Demon

98. Chimerical Beast
Location: Chambara (Royal Quarter), Missable: Yes
Condition: This is complicated. First you need to do the achievement "Cyrano d'Akatsurai". Then you need to do the achievement "A Bard's Tale". This step is fairly easy if you are a Troubadour and rather difficult if you are not. Thus, you can either swap your profession or do a quest chain in the 2nd DLC. Once you are done with "A Bard's Tale" you need to visit the palace another time and fail a magic or sanctity check to get into the fight.

99. Dawatsu Morituri
Location: Kwaidan Forest, Missable: Yes
Condition: If you are Chosen by Nagil, you can decide not to fight him. Otherwise it is not missable.
Note: There are two versions of this fight. If you lure him outside, he becomes much easier.

100. Flying Head
Location: Kwaidan Heights, Missable: No
Note: If you make the wrong choices here, you could end up dead. Your best bet is having progressed a little in the Akatsurai storylines and then ask them who they are.

101. Goblin Spider
Location: Chambara/Kwaidan Forest, Missable: Yes
Condition: Explore Chambara and pay to go upriver. On your first trip you will find a shrine that houses the spider.
Note: If the spider hits you during the fight (the poison spit does not count), you will die without a poison immunity blessing.

102. Imperial Guard
Location: Chambara (Royal Quarter), Missable: No
Condition: You have to lose all your court status and become a merchant. (This might lock you out of achievements and locations.) Then, refuse to sell your armor.

103. Jiro
Location: Shingen, Missable: Yes
Condition: Try to stop the execution and engage the three samurai. This will lock you out of achievements and locations.

104. King Tiger
Location: Kenen Mountains, Missable: No
Note: You have to climb around in the mountains and pass scouting checks until you encounter a scouting check with the difficulty 18. If you fail this check, you will encounter the tiger.

105. Mujina
Location: Kwaidan Forest (east), Missable: Yes
Note: For more information, look at the "Face Off" achievement. Make sure to confront the monster instead of hiding.

106. Nunobiki
Location: Shingen, Missable: Yes
Condition: Try to stop the execution and engage the three samurai. This will lock you out of achievements and locations.

107. Ridiculous Rogue
Location: Countryside (south of Chompo), Missable: No

108. Samurai
Location: Clearwater Shrine, Missable: No
Note: Event 8-12, you need to have the Ivory Helmet with you.

109. Shrine Warden
Location: Udai Island, Missable: No

110. Skeleton Spectre
Location: Grey Mounds, Missable: No
Note: If you do not have a blessing of Immunity to poison/disease you will die after the fight.

111. Spectral Badger
Location: Hunting Lodge, Missable: No
Note: Go hunting without a guide and pass the Scouting check.

112. Tadachika
Location: Shingen, Missable: No
Note: If you are not in the favor of the chancellor, you can get into this fight at his mansion. You can always lose the favor by getting into a fight with him and failing a charisma check.

113. Talanexor
Location: Kito Province, Missable: Yes
Note: You need both DLCs to do this encounter.
Condition: Do the Lauria event in Yellowport. Then, get enslaved at Bronze Hills and go along with her plan (this will reduce your Charisma by 1). Subsequently, go to Dweomer and explore the city. Wait for Lauria to leave the tavern and fail the scouting check. Either try to fight the wizard and he will just run away or win a duel against him. Now, go to Akatsurai and do the hot air balloon event and deflect his spell.

114. The Enemy
Location: Urushi Mountains, Missable: Yes
Condition: Final boss of the monk training related to the achievement "One with Everything".

115. Thunder Beast
Location: Rice Paddies, Missable: No
Note: You cannot fight this as a priest. While it is easily possible to change your profession with the dragon-event, you might want to skip this, if you want to keep playing as a priest.

116. Wacko
Location: Waters around Akatsurai, Missable: No
Note: Run into any pirate around Akatsurai.

117. Warrior Maid

Note: Don't trade your sword.

5. Ghoul (alternative)

Condition: If you banish the ghoul (priest only) or run away, you will miss the fight.

43. Giant Spider (alternative)

Note: After doing the Hatamoto event you can trigger this fight on a subsequent visit.
Violet Ocean
119. Flying Shark
Location: Smogmaw Shallows, Missable: No

120. Fury
Location: Unnerving Expanse (southeast of Copper Isle), Missable: No
Note: There are three possible conditions to trigger the encounter.
- Stealing at Castle Ravayne and fail the thievery check. (Codeword Bullion)
- Punishing the innocent sailmaster for a murder he did not commit at Arcana Drift west of Dweomer. (Codeword Clanger)
- Losing your Soul to Maelzohl. (Codeword Goblet)
(While Clanger and Goblet are missable, you can always get Bullion. Be aware that getting these codewords is dangerous and there may be consequences for your actions.)

121. Ghost
Location: Braelek Beach (Tower), Missable: No
Note: Subsequent visit.

122. Gorgon
Location: Vervayens Isle, Missable: Yes
Condition: When doing the achievement "Non-starter", do not kill the gorgons in their sleep but instead fight them.

123. Mutineer
Location: Smogmaw (Tavern), Missable: Yes
Condition: You have to trigger the mutiny event at Rufescent Current and fail the Charisma check. Then, select to fight them at the tavern.

124. Resentful Sailor
Location: Eldritch Brine, Missable: No
Note: You have to do this fight without your equipment, but you still have access to your Potions of Healing.

125. Scholar
Location: Dweomer, Missable: No
Note: Explore the city.

126. Serpent
Location: Rufescent Current, Missable: Yes
Condition: When doing the achievement "Bounty of the Seas" you need to choose "Life".
Note: The reward for choosing "Life" is really bad. Unless you want to do this fight, probably choose something else.

127. Smuggler
Location: Brazen (Mines), Missable: No
Note: Can be encountered after banishing the ghosts. Make sure that you do not miss the spectral veil event for the +Rank! There are also some Bandits in the fight, if you did not encounter them in Uttaku.

128. Trau Miner
Location: Brazen (Mines), Missable: No

129. Violet Man
Location: Exotic Lanes, Missable: No
Note: Take the left-hand door on the flying ship.

100. Flying Head (alternative)
Location: Bluewood (near Dweomer), Missable: No
Note: You need both a Witch's Hand and a Pirate Captain's Head in your inventory to trigger the fight.

130. Administrator
Location: The Lea, Missable: No

131. Astral Demon

Note: Subsequent visit on the 2-5 event. Pass the scouting check and roll 4-6.

132. Baron Moonshine
Location: Moonshine Waters, Missable: No
Note: It is best to read about the achievement Capital Redundancies first. Getting to him and the fight are quite dangerous.

133. Cannibal
Location: Macaw Grounds, Missable: No
Note: You will meet a second Cannibal if you let the first one die. If you help the first Cannibal, you have to fail a Charisma check to make him go away. Then you can encounter a second Cannibal. Letting the first Cannibal die or killing him will lock you out of the Soulcatcher item.

134. Cannibal Blowgunner
Location: Godswalk, Missable: No

137. Constable
Location: Dunpala, Missable: Yes
Condition: Explore the city at night and help the murderer escape, but fail the thievery roll.
Exclusivity Note: You can not encounter enemy 150 if you do this.

138. Crocodile
Location: Crocodile Farm, Missable: Yes
Condition: After advancing the murderer quest ("What we do in the shadows.") and going to the crocodile farm, fail either the thievery or the scouting check to encounter a pair of crocodiles.
Exclusivity Note: You can not encounter enemy 150 if you do this.

139. Kaimren
Location: Dunpala, Missable: Yes
Condition: You have to help the murderer and make Birdsong at Dawn return to the theater. Afterwards you have to visit the Theater of Obscure three times and help them with some tasks. Then Kaimren shows up, if you have the codeword "afraid" from book 1.
Note: If you decide to fight him, you are barred from entering the theater completely. Thus, you cannot see any performances afterwards. Further, you should unequip your weapon when you attack him or he makes it disappear. You can reequip it before clicking "fight".
Exclusivity Note: You can not encounter enemy 150 if you do this.

140. Kerep Tlotor
Location: Dunpala, Missable: No
Note: Read about the achievement Jack the Creeper.

141. Lightning Bird

Condition: You have to encounter them before getting the Chamessa title. The first Scouting check does not matter. Just call out to them, if you pass. You then need to fail exactly one of the two checks to get to another roll to determine a malus. If you roll 1, you die unless you have a poison immunity blessing, if you roll 5-6, you should unequip your weapon or it will disappear. You can reequip it before clicking "fight".

148. Nyar Tracker
Location: Fluttering Bank, Missable: Yes
Condition: You have to encounter them before getting the Chamessa title.

149. Patasola
Location: Inkatek, Missable: Yes
Condition: You have to choose to fight it and not defeat it by other means.
Note: You will lose 1 Combat for choosing to fight.

150. Scarred Murderer

Condition: Explore the city at night and capture the murderer.
Exclusivity Note: If you encounter this, it will lock you out of meeting enemy 137, 138 and 139. Also it will lock you out of certain achievements.

Additional Encounters
Generally there is no reason to seek out these encounters.

Sokara
If you explore the rough part of Yellowport at night you can fight more Brigands and Burglars.

If you do not flee after Luria tricks you in Yellowport and you also fail a combat check, you can encounter additional Sokaran Militiamen and Sokaran Soldiers.

Golnir
You can encounter more Brigands, Crossbow Brigands and Burglars on the Coastal Road east of Ringhorn.

You can encounter more Brigands and Burglars on the River Road north of Ringhorn.

There is a (missable) vampire encounter at an inn event at the southern Grimm Riverbank. The fight is somewhat complicated to trigger, because it requires failing a sanctity check. Also it is fought without equipment. Since the model is not unique, you should get it at Bazalek Isle instead.

Great Steppes
You can battle assassins (missable) in the extremely rough part of Yarimura. This encounter only triggers once you are finished with the Sokaran Civial War storyline. However, it is somewhat dangerous, as you might lose all of your possessions or even die, if you get poisoned and sided with the general. Getting the assassins in Golnir is just easier.

At the City of Ruins you can fight some more wolves, if you visit the Cave of Bells again after picking up the Sceptre of Kings.

Uttaku
You can battle goblin slingers (missable) at the Singing Forest. However, you need to do the fight in Golnir anyway to get the troll, so there is no real point.

You can fight some more wolves at the Standing Stones north of High King's Seat.

Akatsurai
There is an alternative non-missable vampire fight in the western part of Kwaidan Forest. The vampire on Bazalek Isle is much easier to encounter.

Violet Ocean
You can encounter some more assassins at Frostsheen Longitude (subsequent visit), if you defeated the knight in the Forsaken Forest.

There is a (missable) vampire fight at Forlorn Waters, east of Smogmaw. It requires to roll 11-12 and is just a duplicate of the vampire on Bazalek Isle, that is much easier to encounter.

Ankon-Konu
You can fight Kashuf again at the Well of Lies, if you fought him before, but his spirit version does not count extra.

You can fight King Skabb again in the Spirit World, if you have fought him before, but his spirit version does not count extra.

The guide was updated in preparation for the Bestiary feature. It should now (hopefully) be 99.99% correct. :)

That is absolutely correct! (Very few) adjustments were made by the developer after talking to me and others on the discord. Thus, the guide is slightly outdated.
(On top of my head I remember the Strom Demon overlord, the Samurai and the Uttakin Vampires count differently now. But there are some others. Eventually I will include those changes.)

Great guide! It should be noted that the Storm Demon at Western Uttaku is a Storm Demon *Overlord* and counts as a different foe than the regular Storm Demons in Sokara.
