To unlock this achievement you just need to flip off the trashcan cop near the start of the game.
The trashcan cop appears in Chapter 1 after speaking with Barney and jumping out the window.


This should work on the index without issues. Follow the guide below if using other controllers.
Its recommended to make a save file here as 2 other achievements are also obtained in this area.

Submissive
Put the can in the trash.


Defiant
Hit the trashcan cop with the can.

The achievement is suppose to work on all controllers by default but due to a small error in the bindings the middle finger function is broken on some controllers. Luckily this is an easy fix.

I was using the Vive controllers for this guide but it should work for any controller using SteamVR.

• First launch SteamVR
• Now launch Half-Life 2: VR Mod.
• Open the SteamVR Settings menu.
• Toggle Advanced Settings to Show.
• Click Controllers and then Show Binding UI.
• Select Half-Life 2: VR Mod.
• Under the Current Binding click Edit.

• Finally you'll want to delete both Hand Curl bindings under triggers in the Hand menu.

Note: Its unknown if removing these bindings breaks anything later in the game.

Hold up the back of your hand and press the trigger to start flipping people off.

I recommend using the following guides simultaneously with an overlay software like XSOverlay. This allows you to view your desktop windows in VR without having to take off your headset.
