These are the tips and tricks that made my gaming life easier in Soulmask, and decided to share in case it might be useful/helpful to others in here.

Since Soulmask is in Early Access, things might change and the tips and tricks in this guide might stop working or make no sense. Also, i can't guarantee you that i'll keep this guide up to date with the latest version.

This guide was written based on version 0.1.8 of the game.

Quick open deterred tribesmen inventory by pressing TAB
The most obvious method is, from the interact menu by pressing & holding [E] then select View Items but, if you really want to go on a tribesmen hunt frenzy, this method is faster.

How to:
  • point your aim to the deterred tribesmen

  • then press [TAB]

Note: This method only works on a deterred tribesmen!

Sweep loot from chests and corpses
This one is situational, when there are like 6+ items but have 1~3 items that you DON'T want.
Sure, you could press [T] to loot everything, and then, open your inventory to discard the ones you don't want. Or, just press [Q] on the items you want. But for me, this method feels faster.

How to:
  • open chest/corpse

  • Press and hold [Q]
  • Move your cursor only to the items that you want to loot

Using building direct from your inventory(not in the quick bar)
How to:
  • Instead of right click and selecting Use, just press [E]

Checking tribesmen proficiency level from Clan window
When recruiting deterred tribesmen, the talents and the proficiency levels are the most import aspect when deciding if you are going to keep on your tribe or not. And you can check both from the Clan Window.

How to:
  • press I to open the Clan window (you can check the tribesmen talents)

  • then hover your mouse cursor on the tribesmen activity status icon to see the proficiency levels

  • if you want to dismiss, click on the dismiss icon and then press [space] key to confirm

Note: If you care about loot, check the tribesmen inventory, then dismiss using the interact menu by pressing and holding [E], then Dismiss. For extra loot, kill the tribesmen after you dismiss. If you can, stand behind the tribesmen you are dismissing for the backstab for fast/easy kill.

Try to avoid using blue color markers on your map
If you frequently use the Shortcut(V) marker to mark your destination, try to avoid using blue color markers on your map to make it easier to spot the direction you want to go, since the default color of the Shortcut marker icon is light blue, it might get confusing at times.

Check the items needed to summon the bosses from your inventory
You go fight the boss just to get to the altar and notice that you need some items to be able to summon it, then have to go back to your base to gather the items. Or even take note of every boss to check their items needed for the summoning. But you can do it from the game without having to visit the altars.

How to:
  • Press [TAB] and from the Search Blueprints or Materials, type: token
  • then click on Other Crafting table Blueprints
  • then hover over the boss you want to fight to see what is needed to summon it.

Make use of Shortcut(V) marker on boss(Griffin) fights
Go to the altar and before summoning the boss, open your map and place the Shortcut marker on top of your icon, this will be used as reference point to the center of the boss fight arena, avoiding going out of the range and resetting the boss fight.

Use "Lock Target" and "Ultimate Throw" on flying enemies
The easiest way to kill those annoying eagles and vultures is by using the Spear with Ultimate Throw skill.

How to:
  • Press the Middle Mouse Button to lock on target (if it doesn't work, try to get closer)

  • then use Ultimate Throw [F]. You'll hardly miss the target.

An easy way to bring the Griffin boss down
The most annoying part of this boss is that most of the time, it's in the air.

Note: Having a ranged weapon is nice, but honestly, you don't need it. My recommended weapons are Spear, Dual-blade, and Great sword.

How to:
  • try to do it during the daytime(for me, it is easier to see things inside sandstorm)
  • get the boss's attention, hit it with a ranged weapon or go close and keep jumping
  • then face the opposite direction
  • the easiest way to know where the boss is, is actually by looking at his shadow

  • then wait and it will dive bomb at you, listen to his wings flap(twice), then dodge roll(you can also run to the sides to save stamina)
  • then you can Lock Target [middle mouse button] or just face his direction and attack it(hitting his head deals more damage)

  • keep facing the opposite direction and it will do the same move over and over

Attention! When he is on the ground, his hits deal a lot of damage and hitstun, try to stay safe and learn his attack pattern. After awhile it will fly again.

Discard items of tribesmen with full inventory directly from the Clan window
The harvester, logger and miner are usually the ones that start getting their inventory full because they do not have enough chests to store the stuffs they gather and stops moving/working.
Once you are on bronze/iron gear, you'll be showered with, more than you need, basic low tier mats like stones, branches, flints, fibers, etc... that you don't care about anymore.
As long as you are within a certain range of the encumbered tribesmen, you don't have to go find the tribesmen in person to clear their inventory.

How to:
  • go near to the bonfire (if your tribesmen work within the bonfire range)
  • press I and click on Go to items icon of the encumbered tribesmen

  • press [X] to discard the items that you don't want

Note: This method is only useful if you don't care about the loot they gathered; you just want to discard the items and free space so they can continue working/moving. Ex.: i would keep the hardwood but discard all the branches.

Armor, Weapon, Craftsman and Cook proficiency leveling
These are the method i used.

The proficiency level break-points are when the diminishing return hits, and you start to get less exp from that craft. You can still use the same craft to gain some exp if the cost of the materials is low and/or you have a good amount stocked. Otherwise, i recommend moving to the next craft.

Note: Remember that, depending on the server you are playing, this method might not be efficient. Since official, private and solo servers, all have different exp multiplier settings.

Armor
Wire is slower but cost efficient.
Chainmail gives less exp and takes longer than Wire, but it's needed to craft the Gloves/Boots(Bronze, Iron and Steel).
Gloves/Boots is faster but you loose a lot of mats, still cheaper than other parts.

Craft
Proficiency Level
Linen Gloves/Shoes
1-10
Beast Hide Gloves/Boots
11-30
Copper Wire, Bronze Chainmail, Bronze Gloves/Boots
31-60
Iron Wire, Iron Chainmail, Iron Gloves/Boots
61-90
Steel Wire, Steel Chainmail, Steel Gloves/Boots
91-120+

Weapon
Bow is the cheapest and gives the same/more exp then other weapons.
Note: Remember, its the Bow, not Long Bow, Great Bow, Rapid Bow.

Craft
Proficiency Level
Wooden Bow
1-10
Stone Spear/Blade
11-20
Beast Bone Bow
21-30
Bronze Bow
31-60
Iron Bow
61-90
Steel Bow
91-120+

Craftsman
The Butcher's Knife is cost efficient.

Craft
Proficiency Level
Stone Pickaxe/Axe/Scythe/Butcher's Knife
1-10
Beast Bone Butcher's Knife
11-30
Bronze Butcher's Knife
31-60
Iron Butcher's Knife
61-90
Steel Butcher's Knife
91-120+

Cook
Not the fastest but, probably the easiest and cheapest method is to make Frozen Potato.
No need for seeds (Potato has no seed), 2 potato Farmland should be more than enough to keep the stock up.

Note: For this method, you need to learn Drying Rack, Drying Technique (unlocked at Awareness Strength 18), Farmland and Fertilizer Bucket (unlocked at Awareness Strength 10).

Craft
Proficiency Level
Frozen Potato
1-120
