Step 1: Buy the Game

Make sure Child of Light is bought and installed on Steam. So you can continue with this harmless scheme.

Step 2: Download the Fix

Download this file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LZXeoe1gsnQsV31Wc14GD8NNoLUEctJ4/view
(Link Contains a Download, You will proceed with your consent)
and extract it. It is harmless, and it will be worth your while.

Step 3: Extract, Drag and Drop

Drag the files inside of ChildofLightFix to the Child of Light install folder. Find it by Browsing the Local Files, Treat it like an Isle? (Replace when prompted)

Step 4: Play

Open the game on Steam.
It should open right away
You can now continue your full path to Gleam. All without Uplay, you can finally let your frustration... lay?

Extra

Following this will also remove the Intro Video allowing you to get into the game quicker and it has a more satisfying opening.

Save Game is Located in the Child of Light Install inside ApiLocalStorage

If you wish to transfer saves to another device, you will need to transfer the save folder into the Child of Light install directory. These aren’t backed up by Steam Cloud

Uninstalling Child of Light from Steam will not remove your Save File, However if you reinstall it you will be required to follow this guide again.

Also contains Steam Library artwork for Child of Light in case you want it to shine in your Steam Library. Located in LibraryArt in the Child of Light Install once this guide is applied.

Any DLC Purchased from Steam Store will still work.
Steam Achievements cannot be unlocked with this fix, if they are ever added

This also works with the Child of Light Demo Version if you want to try that out.

Purpose of this Guide:

To fix players frustration with Uplay, To try and silence Off-Topic Reviews and Discussions that only complain about Uplay, and to the people who refuse to buy this game because of Uplay.

I just want everyone to be able to enjoy Video Games without complaining over every little thing, It's an annoying thing that many take their games too seriously, Some miss out on gems like these because of flaws not related to the actual games themselves.

Child of Light and other Ubisoft titles got an Update, The Update doesn’t add Achievements but it updated the Ubisoft Connect Installer. You will be required to do this again if you had it

This Fix greatly helps on the Steam Deck due to it completely breaking via Client Updates, And removing the annoying hurdle that also uses up alot of resources.

I am very sure nobody wants to use Ubisoft Connect, Ubisoft obviously doesn’t care about how we feel about it.

I haven't played this since I got it for free on XBawkz. Since I got it for a little over 3 bux recently, this is going to be a godsend to shut up ubisoft's spyware.

Child of Light recieved an update. all it did was update Ubisoft Connect, therefore breaking this guide. It still works but if you will be required to do this again if you followed it before the "update"

Almost all the reviews of Child of Light seem to be off topic and about Uplay, just throw em this and their problem is solved (Why does this game have Uplay anyway?)
