You've probably experienced shutdowns?

Well for GOG guide here is how to do it, if you bought it in GOG.

1: Go to
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\
on your computer

2: Pick a game folder
3: Go into "Tools" folder
4: Click "Graphic Mode Setup" program
5: In Basic Settings, choose "OpenGL". Then click "Save Settings". It should work now.


But if you own the games on Steam. Here is the guide for Steam users

1: Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
2: Pick a game folder "In this instance (King's Quest Collection)"
3: In this instance go to folder 2016_KingsQuestCollection>kq1>DOSBOX
4; Right click on the file "dosboxKQ1.conf" and open it with notepad
5: Change the value "Overlay" to "OpenGL" at the output part. You may also edit the other i marked here, to what i have. To avoid fullscreen mode looking weird. Then save the notepad, and exit it.
6: Now do the same routine to other King's Quest games, like kq2,kq3,kq4,kq5,kq6,kq7. And they should all work.
7: Enjoy the game!
