What do these lines do?!

-TAA : Makes it cleaner, less prone to ghosting and on average, has improved temporal stability, at a performance cost, nothing too drastic but that'll depend on your GPU, it performs about 3-4% worse than the "Default TAA" setting on my specs on average, however it's night and day in terms of quality and sharpness.

-"r.TemporalAASamples=4" Modify this line if you want less or more aliasing, 2 is a good alternative for sharpness up to 8 / less=sharper - more=smoother, i personally use 4, 1 is the sharpest but can have issues on static scenes and in other circumstances.

-If you want to reduce noise and light flickers, use the denoising lines from the link below, usually the bloom related line is enough to "fix" the issues with light flickers.

-Disables Chromatic Aberration, no description needed, it disables CA.

-Disables Depth of Field, same as above, although ADS seems unaffected as it's probably blur and not actual DoF.

-Disables Motion Blur, yes you can turn it off in game too.

-Disables Film Grain, if there's any.

-You can tweak the r.Tonemapper.Sharpen= value if you want more or less sharpening, for me in Crimeboss these settings are fine, but your experience may vary.

You can modify and experiment with these as you wish, these lines can also be used and applied to any UE4 and UE5 games, although for UE5 i would suggest using TSR settings instead.

Presets for further TAA modification are listed in the guide by TheHybred in the link below, this guide's settings keeps the game's default TAA samples, Filter size and frame weight, feel free to check by yourself which presets give the best results for you.

===2025 Update===
If you have an Nvidia GPU, i highly recommend using DLSS with the lastest dlls and setting the preset to K/Latest, either for DLAA/Native or quality mode and lower.
You can change the preset either with the Nvidia app, or with Nvidia Profile inspector, which i would recommend instead.

I just added what Roland edited and lights stopped flickering when using FSR

NP, depending on the game it can look weird, but i generally only use D/C or F, F is generally the "best" because it's the base model trained for DLAA, but it's not as sharp.

yea, I knew what you meant, I have Npi around somewhere, I'll try that and compare. thanks

Nvidia profile inspector*

The C preset for DLAA is usually the one for the less ghosting as it uses present temporal information as much as possible, i suggest you try that, either with Nvidia profile editor or with DLSSTweaks, you can also change the DLSS version to the 3.7 version.

I almost got into a fight with copilot because it told me ue4 doesn't support DLAA so there's no commands for it because i thought it was ue4 as well. Then several sources were also saying ue4 doesn't support DLAA then I found articles and discussions indicating it's ue5:

https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/unreal-engine-5-powered-crime-boss-rockay-city-gets-new-gameplay-trailer/

https://www.reddit.com/r/unrealengine/comments/14qokjw/vram_issue_crashing_most_newer_games_especially/

So honestly, Idk wtf to believe on what engine it is, but at the end of the day I just want some damn commands or something to reduce the ghosting on DLAA and they don't seem to exist for ue4 or ue5 yet.

You tell me what you see, this is the game's exe, both the version and the build say 4.27, UE4.
I'm not interested in doing comparison and further, there's enough documentation for people to experiment, the base settings on this guide are enough to make it more bearable, but it's still TAA.

this is ue5 not ue4. ue4 has no DLAA support and you can find articles saying this is a UE5 game from March of last year.

And yea I hate aliasing but I also hate ghosting so i'm trying like hell to find a middle ground. With DLAA I'm only seeing it on the hud items like the money counter but like you said it's RTX cards only.
Supposedly upping samples to 4 and that frameweight command can help with the ghosting, I didn't test thoroughly because the overall aliasing is just worse in TAA.
Another option for none RTX could be XeSS. There's another guide to update it and updating it supposedly reducing the ghosting it has greatly and gives you an overall better image than TAA. Could be worth your time to compare; and you don't have to lose your blur removal edits and might even get a performance boost (my non-updated XeSS tests were more efficient than DLAA but it had the worst ghosting of any of them)

UE4 TAA will always have ghosting with specific colors and background, it's just how it is, for normal gameplay with these settings you won't notice any, the one I notice the most is ghosting that happens when character outlines or the van outlines is behind a black or gray wall and you move laterally and actually look for it, otherwise, it's minimal, also yes DLAA looks great and performs better performance wise, but it also has ghosting and only works on Nvidia GPU.
