Making the game windowed and changing resolution

The game will keep being fullscreen regardless of configuration and there's no way of changing resolution within the game's settings

Changing the resolution

In order to make the game windowed,
first go into the main menu,
select Screen Settings
and set to Windowed.
But this just sets it to borderless Windowed, we want a "real" window however.

For this, go to "%LOCALAPPDATA%/MSAR/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/" in Windows Explorer and find the file
GameUserSettings.ini

(The path is compatdata/2322440/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/MSAR/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/ for SteamDeck/Steam on Linux)

In there locate the value ResolutionSizeX and ResolutionSizeY and set these to the values you want the window to be.
I chose ResolutionSizeX=800 and ResolutionSizeY=600

Save the file.

On your next start, Metal Slug Attack will start with a window of the specified size.
