Sushi DLC Tutorials

For some reason the tutorials in the Sushi DLC are in the form of TikTok-style videos that you can't even rewind or fast forward. To top it off, the clock is running while you watch these videos. This guide is here to translate the tutorials into writing, so you can consume it at your own pace.

Cooking
Purchasing ingredients
  1. Open the Shop app
  2. Add items to cart (you also can remove items from your cart)
  3. Click the checkout button that shows your cart total
  4. Collect your package by clicking on the door
  5. Depending on what you ordered, the items may be automatically added to their "spawners" (pantry, fridge, etc) or in a box
  6. If you got the box, place it on a counter and click it to get the items inside

Using recipes
  1. Open the Sushi Sensei app
  2. Pick a recipe
  3. There are two tabs, one for ingredients list and the other for cooking instructions
  4. You can pin recipes for quick reference, so when you press Tab to put the phone away, it will only go down about half-way and show you the recipe while you work

Preparing tempura
  1. Add the following to the metal bowl (possibly in this order?)
    • 1 egg
    • 500g flour
    • 300g potato starch
    • 500ml sparkling water
    • 50g ice cubes
  2. Mix everything together with a wooden spoon until it becomes a batter
  3. Pour "some" flour (their words) into a second bowl
  4. Prepare the ingredients that will be covered in tempura
  5. Taking the first ingredient, smother in flour from second bowl
  6. Dip it in the tempura batter
  7. Fry it in the deep fryer
  8. Remove excess oil with paper towels (they show it lining a small baking tray)
  9. Repeat the last few steps with all ingredients
Afterwards, you can serve it as a separate dish, use it in a maki roll, or on nigiri

Preparing tamagoyaki
  1. Add the following to the metal bowl (possibly in this order?)
    • 3 eggs
    • 30ml dashi broth
    • 15g sugar
    • 10ml mirin sauce
    • 10ml light soy sauce
  2. Mix everything together with a wooden spoon until it's becomes a yellow liquid
  3. Heat the tamagoyaki pan (its a square pan) and pour "some" oil into it
  4. Using the ladle, pour some of the mixture onto the pan
  5. Wait for it to "get ready" (I think this just means watch the pan and wait for it to finish)
  6. Using the spatula, roll the tamagoyaki to one side of the pan, then to the other side
  7. Pour another layer of the yellow liquid onto the pan
  8. Again, using the spatula, roll the tamagoyaki with a spatula to one side then to the other
  9. Again, pour another layer of the yellow liquid onto the pan
  10. For the last time, roll it with a spatula and take it from the pan
  11. Cut the tamagoyaki with a sushi knife (looks like thin slices in the video)
  12. Serve it on nigiri
Making sushi
Preparing rice
  1. Put 500g of rice in the colander
  2. Rinse it in the sink
  3. Put it in the rice cooker
  4. Add 1L of water (video shows it using the bottled water)
  5. Turn the rice cooker on
  6. Grab the sushi oke (wooden bowl near the rice cooker) and click the cooked rice to put it in the sushi oke
  7. While in the sushi oke, add:
    • 100ml rice vinegar
    • 25g sugar
  8. Mix with a wooden spoon
Rice is ready!

Maki ingredients
  • You can put various ingredients into a maki roll
  • Fish: "Make sure to choose the maki cut!" (I believe this is referring to a choice made when using the knife)
  • Vegetables and fruits: Use the automatic cutter, make sure to put a "GN container" in the bottom to catch the chopped ingredient
  • Some ingredients don't need cutting (the video shows some jarred ingredients in the pantry, shrimp, and other small rectangular cuts of something from the bottom of the fridge)
  • Put them into GN containers to use them from the maki station

Nigiri ingredients
  • You can put various ingredients on nigiri
  • Fish: "Remember to choose the sashimi cut!" (I believe this is referring to a choice made when using the knife)
  • Fruits and vegetables: Cut them with the knife just like fish
  • Shrimp: Remember to cut them in half length-wise (the result should be two long pieces)
  • Tamagoyaki: cut it just like you did with fish

Sashimi
  • Fish can be served not only as sushi, you can also service it as sashimi!
  • Just cut them into sashimi cuts as you would for nigiri
  • And serve them on a plate

Preparing maki
  1. To make hosomaki, first take a piece of nori and separate it (press E) then place it on the maki stand
  2. Add rice and spread it on the nori
  3. Add one ingredient
  4. Roll the maki
  5. Cut it with a maki knife
  1. To make chumaki or futomaki, use the whole nori, don't separate it
  2. For chumaki, use 2-3 rows of ingredients
  3. For futomaki, you will need 4 rows of ingredients
  4. Roll and cut!

Preparing nigiri
  1. Put rice blobs on the nigiri stand
  2. Shape them
  3. You can then add wasabi
  4. Finally, add the main ingredient
  5. Nori strips can also be added
  6. Plate and serve!

Using wasabi
  1. Get a wasabi root and a wasabi grater
  2. Grate the root
  3. Place the wasabi paste in a bowl
  4. It can be put on nigiri, or served on the side of an order
Serving dishes
Custom dishes
  • Wondering what people would like to eat?
  • Open the OrderUp! app and check the trends
  • Prepare the wanted ingredient and make a dish with it
  • Serve it on the white stand where customers sit, raise the little flag, and they will show up for it

Standard dishes
  • Customers at the black stands want specific dishes
  • Interact with them to accept or decline
  • You can check the order's details in the OrderUp! app
  • It will take you to the recipe
  • Prepare the order and serve it

Dish sides
  • You can serve sides with dishes using the "Small serving bowl"
  • Examples are wasabi, soy sauces, or ginger
  • Put them next to the served dish and confirm them

Dish evaluation
  • Are your guests unhappy with their orders?
  • Open the OrderUp! app and check the "Archived" tab
  • Here you can check what you can improve upon

Decoration mode
  • Before serving a dish you need to put it on a plate
  • Usually it gets placed automatically
  • But you can enter a mode that lets you place it however you want
  • While hovering over a plate with a sushi piece, you can enter decoration mode
  • Now you can lay your sushi out however you like!
Progression
Experience points
  • Selling dishes grants you experience points
  • But poorly made dishes give you less points
  • And well made dishes give you more points
  • You can check how much EXP you earned in the OrderUp! app's "Archived" tab
  • With enough EXP you can level up
  • And with a level up, you get Perk Points to spend in the PerkHUB app
  • And coins to spend in the Gotcha Recipes app!

Perks
  • You can unlock many useful perks as you play
  • Like picking up hot items
  • Open the PerkHUB app
  • Pick a perk
  • And enjoy your new skills!

Gacha app
  • You can get new recipes in the Gotcha Recipes app
  • Decide how many coins you want to spend, and draw!
  • You can check the new recipe right away or roll again
  • If you get a recipe you already know, you will get more experience when serving it
  • You can also check which recipes you already unlocked

Fish Express app
  • This is where you buy fish
  • By gaining EXP you unlock new fishermen who will offer you new types of fish

How do you make the fried fish for certain sushi?

Oh, and for the optionals. I find the ginger the most time effecient. Take a big bowl, go to the shelf, place bowl on ground, take a can of ginger and pour it in the bowl, throw the garbage bin. You can use about 5-6 cans to fill a bowl. Then put the bowl on your counter.

Whenever there is a order, select a serving cup, click on the ginger, and you can serve it

Hey,

Try to make things in bigger batches. Sushi vinegar u can make with 2lt vinegar and 500g sugar all in once in a big bowl. Then use the 50ml spadle 2x for the right amount of 1 portion. U can place the bow in the upper left of your counter to save space.

Tempura batter u can make a batch with 2x the recipe. Tamago batter with 10x (yes, 30 eggs :P) the recipe.

This also works in the main game for soups/sauses/prepping food. Why make 100ml of something when you can also make 5 liter of it with the same of less effort? :P
