Monoculture III (Monoculture 3) guide

The achievement Monoculture III involves using only a single crop group up to turn 500.
This guide should hopefully help to achieve this goal.

Game Version
I used game version 1.3.4 for this guide.
DISCLAIMER
This build took a lot of patience due to the game crashing a lot towards the end goal of turn 500.
Crop used
Wheat
I was able to get this achievement using normal wheat as my crop.

The achievement mentions crop group and not crop, but I didn't want to risk any other types of wheat, so just stuck to the default wheat.

Production Line
This build relies on the cloth that gets created by the Giant Sheeps wool -> Cutter -> Loom production line.
Character and Starting perks
Character:
I used the character: The Ram
The reason I chose him was to have the early Wheat Expansion which would be of great use for crow builds.

Island Setup
Pattern

I did multiple runs where I tried multiple of the following setups but splitting the Crows across the setups, but found that stacking all crows onto 1 gave better results and finally my successfull run.

Pattern Expanation:
  • -: can be anything
  • s: Silo
  • w: wheat islands (My wheat islands were my starter islands which is why you see the water wells
    Later I added a scarecrow on each although this was not necessary as wheat expansion is active, but this did prevent some crop destruction to happen which gave much more resources
  • p:
    • Small Animal Pen:
      • Giant Sheep x 1
      • Crow x 12(was my final count)
      • Watercow x 1
    • Cutter
    • Loom
    • Further fill with Antennae (Only need 1 if you don't have junk islands) or separate Solar
  • C : Cross (This can be anywhere)The cross doubles your wheat production, so this is a must have building for this build
  • U : You will need a pen for the Unicorn cards that is not in your Crow pen. (This can be added anywhere)




Card Selection Priority
  1. Crow
    • ALWAYS PICK IF AVAILABLE
    • These are very rare and a priority for the build to work as it increases production on neighbour islands each time they try to consume a wheat on neighbouring island.
    • I got 12 on my entire 500 turn run
  2. Cross (This is a must have building to double wheat production)
  3. Unicorn (It has been confirmed that this will increase the sheep's production)
  4. Silo (8) - Doubles water and production for neighbouring wheat islands
  5. Giant Sheep (1)
  6. Cutter(1), Loom(1)
  7. A power solution (Antennae or Solar)
Essence rewards used
  • Wheat Expansion (The Ram character has this by default)
  • Home Sweet Home (2x Slot space for animals)
  • Gluttunous Feast (Every animal produces twice)
  • Dionysian Rites (Every 10 turns gets +4 production to crops)
  • Black Water (Animals use fuel instead of water) Note: this is not a requirement but i used it since i had some other animals i tried as well which didnt do much in this build and had a water problem
Additional Notes
Unicorns
I did have 3 Unicorns on my island, but don't believe it affected the Giant Sheep production as the Giant Sheep's production is dependent on your neighbouring wheat production.
It has been confirmed that the Unicorn bonus does work for the Giant Sheep.


Other Production
I also expanded into additional Giant Sheep setups with 4 wheat fields surrounding it.
Also had multiple junk islands to keep my hand clear for when crows was available.

First crow
I cannot remember exactly when I got my first Crow (Think it was in the first 50 turns), but the sooner you get it the faster your production starts to skyrocket.

Black Water requirements
A separate island with wheat with a biofuel generator next to it is helpful if you go Black Water.
For Black Water, Fuel Cows are also a big benefit next to the biofuel generator island.

Crashing and longer turn ends
Since I added the cross halfway through the run, i noticed a longer calculation time at the end of each turn and turned of animations at this point.
Towards the end the build was crashing often from turn 300+ every few turns.
Also, I saved and quit from turn 400+ after each turn as it started crashing every second turn.
(Even for Good Planning III which goes to turn 2000 i didnt have any crashes, so this must be something to do with the crows, wheat, giant sheep combination)

Final Production
Wheat Production
For my final production on the core of my island, each wheat produced 161.9k wheat.
This will differ depending on how many and how early on you started adding crows.

This created over 2 billion cloth at turn 500:

i think they nefed this because i tried this 3 times and didn't get beyond 400
