Maybe Battlefield: Bad Company 3 will take place in such a scenario. I can think of the Bad Company 3 crew as part of a special mission inside a post-nuclear apocalyptic russia. "Operation Snake Head".

Each of our nuclear submarines carries 20 missiles. Each missile has at least 3 independently targeted nuclear warheads. Even 1 of our ballistic missile submarines could win a nuclear war with Russia. For some crazy reason, we have at least 14 of these submarines (My guess is that we aren't planning to fire them off all at once but instead over a period of months as new targets present themselves).

If the russians were stupid enough to try to invade Alaska, even with conventional forces, pretty soon the only ones coming through there would be starving, irradiated refugees.
