you don't get to place the beams yourself but it's not random either, the placement depends on the captain's position and is as follows :
.... ( 3 ) .......... ( 1 ) .......
.............. ( 2 ).................
....... ( SM Captain ) .......
No single target damage. No AoE damage. Too slow windup to catch up to moving enemies or get use out of melee health regen. 2 handed so no secondary. No stats or traits to make up for its direct uselessness like other weak weapons. The one and only thing it can do is chain stun a single vehicle, but not kill it because no armor piercing, and the stun doesn't work on a lot of large Anvil enemies like Tyrant Guards, Avatar, or Unclean One.
Just useless.
Unshakable is crucial because you will reposition a LOT. Always have something in between you and the high importance damage dealers. Kite Kite Kite and let your dread, your grenades and your plasma shots do the talking.
Do NOT add Jump pack. You have no energy for that. You want to heal with Purity Seals instead of fleeing. You are no coward, are you?
Plasma rifle
Armor of Resilience
Purity Seals
Litanies of Zeal
Rites of Fortitude
Dreadnought
The idea is to always have the Dread between you and the enemy. Purity Seals can actually heal the dread, cheaper than ordering a new one. Plasma Grenades handle squishies. Walking and shooting handles beefier enemies.
This build mainly works on Anvil, because of the two tank wrecks. In a pinch, get behind one of the tank wrecks, press "z" and click the wreck to manually attack them. That triggers Litanies of Zeal. Have your Dread on the other side of the wreck and heal him up that way. Helps you, your dread and your teammates. Throw the occasional grenade over as needed.
