What I mean when I say Chickens
Chickens are the most important part of the game and do you know why? It is because without chickens, those tabby slimes would starve, famine would spread, and you would never hear a cluck! This is why I am going to show you how to farm these beautiful, majestic, and interesting creatures.
Step 1 - Breeds
So, what you have to do is choose your breed of chicken. White hens are a good choice if this your first few days in the game.
Step 2 - Setup
2a

You are going to have to build a coop for chickens. Once you make the coop for 250 Newbucks, you should also get 3 upgrades for it: High Walls, Spring Grass, and Vitamizer. This will be a total cost of 1,375 Newbucks (including coop and those 3 upgrades).

Then you put 3 hens of your breed choice and 2 roosters. Then after they have made new chickens, and those chicks mature, take a few newly matured chickens and let them roam free with a least one rooster. This is the best option if you have money and want to maximize your chances of getting a lot of chickens.

2b

The other option is good if you want to conserve money and don't want me to tell you the odds of succeeding ("never tell me the odds!"). All you have to do is just to shoot some hens and roosters in a pile and cross your fingers. And if things turn to the dark side shoot a few more roosters and hens in the pile to help increase the chicken population. I call this the "economical strategy".

2c

The last strategy is good if like collecting an assortment of hens and you are in a rush. This is a brute force tactic. All you have to do is collect a lot of them with a ratio of hen to roosters 3:1. Then you shoot them in a pile and try to maintain the same ratio. If your population starts to decrease try to shoot some hens and roosters with the same ratio 3 to 1. Shooting them sounds counter-intuitive...but I promise it works to increase the population!

Step 3 - Getting close
3a

Okay, if you have a hundred or more chickens around day 10-12, do not go to 3b.

If you have 100+, stick with these instructions. Now we can try to introduce new breeds. First find a clear space. Next do the previous steps 1 and 2. For step 3, introduce all the hen types that you want, but only one at a time. (Note you don't have to introduce new breeds but It can be good so you have all of the slimes favorites foods that eat meat.)

3b

If your mass farm is not working, review your population stats. Let's check out some of the most common situations.

Problem: I noticed that there is a lot of older chickens. What do I do?
Solution: You should relocate the elders in to the wild and introduce a lot of younger chickens from the wild to your farm. This solves the problem, because elders don't make new chicken. Also, I have never seen the elder hens will not come back with vengeance. Maybe... Probably, not.

Problem: I see that there are a lot of hens but only one or two roosters. Is this a problem?
Solution: Yes, and you should put rosters in at a ratio of one rooster for every three hens as quickly as you can!

Problem: I don't have any elders and I have ratio of hens to roosters of 3 to 1. What do I do?
Solution: Okay, first build a coop and put a few chickens in it. Then put one to two yolky slimes in it (Max 4). Last when they make their eggs, break the eggs outside the coop so the Chickadoos hatch outside and help the population of chickens.

Step 4 - End Game
Okay, now you have successfully made a MASS chicken farm. Good job! Here comes fun part, decorations! You may decorate in any way that you like. My personal opinion is you should get the music blocks and tiles; chickens love them and so do I! ;)

Goodbye
I hope you enjoyed my guide. BONUS This information applies to both games except for the yolky slimes and music blocks, which are only in Slime Rancher 2!

ok maybe you can restart the farm or use a coop to make the younger ones make eggs and save the farm.

They are in the second picture in the cave under step one. I accidentally had them every where so my chicken farms were not diverse so I moved into the cave. :)
