Items with ??? require further testing and will be updated in a later version
Advanced Basket Usage
You can only hold one item at a time but baskets let you carry multiple items in one basket.
You can make additional baskets at a cost of 10 Twigs and 3 Maple Syrup by crafting them at the Workbench
Baskets can be handy since they let you store three stacks of up to 50 items.
Baskets do count as part of the Workbench inventory and the Forge shop inventory if they are on the same tile, however they should not be used as permanent storage since they can be easily kicked around.
Baskets will respawn on your Home Tile if they are kicked or thrown off the map! However since they're easy to kick, you probably shouldn't use them as permanent storage, use crates and barrels for that instead
You can transfer items from a basket to a crate or barrel storage while holding it by pressing X on your XBOX controller or ???Right Click???, but you cannot transfer items to any of the Sales Chests (Apple, Maple Syrup or others)
Baskets can be carried by a Blue Pig (see below). This is a game changer since the Pig will also pick up items of the same type it already is carrying
Blue Pigs
If you keep buying tiles, around mid-game (about 5-6 hours in) you will find a tile with Blue Pigs on it.
Go to the tile, feed the pig the required foods (Carrot, Onion, Raspberry, Apple) and the pig will follow you.
More importantly, you can place a basket on its back so that it becomes a mobile storage AND it will automatically pick up items near you if it has an item of that type in its basket
Earning Money and Rating Points by Serving Food
In the early game (before you unlock the Inn), customers will only arrive after the ferry does (10 AM) and will leave at 18:00 to catch the ferry. This means you can get about 6 items sold to them per day (excluding Syrup and Aged Syrup).
Obviously, you get more money if you serve food and drinks faster. However, if you take too long to serve food, you may get NEGATIVE rating points. It can be better to just not serve an order rather than dealing with the negative rating points. All orders will disappear at either 18:00 (before the Inn) or when you go to sleep (after the Inn is unlocked)

I'm working on a price list but that's going to take a while. Rating Points seems to vary based on what rating you have already.

Try to choose foods with the 'Heart' Icon on them since they will give a ???25%??? bonus to their price and rating. The menu allows for up to 9 items to be available, however there doesn't seem to be any benefit to this. You're better off only serving the items with Hearts on them if you can

Late in the game, the Ferry will sell you an additional table which will allow you to double your number of orders demanded/sold
In order to make more money, you can put Maple Syrup or Aged Maple Syrup on the table (still testing this, even after beating the game). It can be placed on the Maple Leaf icon on the table. Maple Taffy is cookable but I cannot find a use for it, maybe it also can be sold like this.

I suggest you also put crates in the dining room and fill them with premade Juices and Wines. Unlike cooked meals, Juice and Wine do not spoil overnight and you can stack them in crates.
I suggest you also put counters in the dining room and create a 'sideboard' where you can place cooked food while you wait for the customers to order it.
If you are very industrious, you can prepare two entrees and two desserts between 6:00 and 10:00 and so be ready to feed all the Ferry Customers without any cooking while they are there

Ultimately, serving food is not the best money maker but it is the only way to gain rating points and unlock much of the story and tiles.
A better method is...
Selling Items to Make Money
You can sell Maple Syrup at the Devil's House by placing it in the chest. Maple Syrup sells for 15G
You can also sell Apples and other fruits (???Which???) at Corriveau's tile
In the Late game, this is the easiest way to make money as you will have enough apple trees to harvest 37 Apples every three days. Apples sell for 10G
How Much Money Do I Need?
Each Copper Tool Upgrade costs 1000G (and 5 Copper)
Each Gold Tool Upgrade costs 2000G (and 5 Gold)
The Plaza statue costs 1500G
So that's a total of 10500G plus costs for all the World Tiles (To be added)
Sticks
Sticks
You get sticks from chopping down tress that are not fully grown yet. Trees grow back in 3 days
Fishing
Around Mid game you get an Ice Pond with 3 Fishing Holes and can learn to make fishing poles from Admiral Walker. However, it isn't really worth it as a the fish pies rarely come up as with a 'Heart' icon and the fishing rods are not permanent (they last about 3 days, then have to be replaced)
The Basement
In the late game, you will get a Tile with some explorers who are passed out after crashing their Flying Canoe into a tree. Once you have completed their quest you will get a key to the Basement.
This will unlock the Aging Cask allowing you to make Aged Maple Syrup, Apple Cider, Blueberry Wine, and Raspberry Wine.
The basement (once partially repaired) also allows for fast travel to the tiles with trap doors on them

Maple taffy is used with the maple taffy table outsides. The player can gain money and rating points as customers come to the table (I'm not sure if this only happens when the player don't light the the dinning room fireplace)
