So suddenly my game decided to crash. A lot.

Some people say it was due stupid "favourite weapon" system and my file that store that data got corrupted and I had to wipe out a specific file.

I did that. That fix the issue. That was in 2022.

This wasn't the same issue because I stop adding weapons to favourite list.
So I reinstalled the game twice. I did search for possible solutions for a very long time. Nothing work.

Most of solutions was like "hey bro delete config for game, it have tendency to get corrupted to this very day since early access due bad customized controlls".

Alright thats weird but I take it. I deleted the file in documents. Did not help.
I turn off the cloud save, deleted the file. Did not help.
Hmmm, something is missing. Something is wrong. Very wrong.

So I ask a shaman in Africa that was living in my basement what could be a possible solution for this issue. So Grand Master Google was like "here is 2 year old reddit post with another possible solution".

Yep, that was it

The issue is that old game file stored in userdata folder was restoring that corrupted config no matter what. So I just delete it.

BAM! It restored Killing Floor 2 to default in term of all settings, controls, graphics etc.

No more crashing. At least from corrupted config.

The possible reason for that is that if you customize settings and bind some specific buttons to specific actions the game doesn't like that. Like REALLY doesn't like that.

The game will work at the time but there is a very high chance that some near future update will break that file and corrupt it. Why? I don't know. Its seems to be a thing since early access still not fixed.

It happen multiple times to people according to subreddit, Tripwire forums and Steam forums.

First the config file:

If you are using Windows 10 its here:
C:\Users\bskor\Documents\My Games\KillingFloor2\KFGame\Config\KFGame.ini
(of course the address its slightly different depending on your drive letter and stuff)

Delete it. Launch the game.

Try to disable Steam cloud:
Right click KF2 in library -> properties - > general -> Steam cloud
and then delete the config file. Launch the game.

Ok, so let's do what that random redditor said 2 years ago (credit goes to HazardousMonkey):

1) make sure your Steam cloud is turned off

2) go to your folder where Steam is installed and go to:
C:\Steam\userdata\RANDOM NUMBER THAT IS YOUR ACCOUNT ID\232090\remote directory


3) delete "Profile.bin"

4) Launch the game. All settings, graphics, controlls are back to default.

This here was what fixed my game.
