Helpful Gameplay Tips for Nightmare mode (WiP)
By Hawaiian Shirt Man
I've been playing musou games for more than a decade, and I would like to create a guide for people wanting to enhance their gameplay or just completely break the ai. Here are some tips (some will be added as I discover to new tech):

Tips
- Motonari's family item is really good for killing officers fast. It lowers defense of any enemy in front. Positioning is weird though, it attacks in whatever direction you are facing, and the hitbox is far away, so you need to space yourself between your target so it can hit.

- Yoshitsugu and Mitsunari's item are very helpful at nerfing red zones for limited amount of time, BUT only if you absolutely need to go in one. Nightmare mode red zones are very tanky and one wrong move could get you combo'd to death. Always go for standard bearers if you see any.

- Approaching officers in Nightmare mode can be pretty intimidating, alot of them will instantly start attacking as soon as they're close to you. This is can be dealt with by parrying/strafing. This is done by holding block and pressing the A or X(Playstation) button in any direction. If an officer hits you during strafing, they will be knocked back and be opened up for a Mighty Strike.

- Make use of Mighty Strikes. Mighty Strikes are cinematic attacks that can instantly kill officers that are below 50% or 40% health. Use this is get rid of officers and complete objectives quickly.

- Try to stay away from the Lightning/Shock element. Reason why: It knocks your enemies (more importantly officers) into the air and away from, which results in greatly decreased damage and whiffing attacks. For officers who have innate shock element in rage mode or on their secret weapon, try to find a weapon with any element but shock on them.

- Kanbei Kuroda's weapon does not benefit from the range skill.

- For characters who can get a visual weapon buff with R1 (Nobunaga, Kanbei, Ina), there is a way to increase buff uptime. Nobunaga for example; first activate his full buff string (R1 and X or square twice). Then, to reset the timer, just press R1 once. You dont have to input the entire string again to rest the buff.

- Ieyasu can cancel his charge attacks (or power attacks) with his r1. It has a very short animation, and can be used to reset combos, resulting in more dps.

As of now, this is all I have. More will be added in the future. Thanks for reading,

I feel that strafe (L1+leftstick+X - playstation) in SW4 has shorter time frame than in SW4ii. In sw4ii I have ~0.5 second to press X as soon as AI initiate its attack. In sw4 it's harder to press X in time. The strafe trick is very imprtant in 1vs1 duel with hyper officers, where player has no way to fill musou/rage bars.
