SpellForce: How to mod with Steam Workshop
By Sir Packet Lossalot
Short guide on how to mod SpellForce: Platinum Edition using Steam Workshop. I've decided to create it since I couldn't find such a guide for myself.

Step 1 - Subscribe to mods in Steam Workshop
Pretty straightforward, simply go to Steam Workshop page dedicated to SpellForce: Platinum Edition and subscribe to the mods you are willing to add to your game. You can proceed once the mods are downloaded.

Step 2 - Opt in publictest for SpellForce
1. Go to your Steam Library and find SpellForce: Platinum Edition.
2. Right click on the game and select Properties
3. Go to Betas page
4. From the dropdown menu choose publictest

Now the game will be updated to the publictest version, enabling us to mod the game.

Step 3 - Changing launch options
In the same Properties menu for the game, go to General page and from the dropdown menu choose SpellForce Mod Launcher.

This will ensure that Mod Launcher is started once you hit Play from your Steam Library.

Step 4 - Moving mod files
1. Go to SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\39540

2. Here you will see the mods that you have downloaded for SpellForce: Platinum Edition via Steam Workshop, although they are not labelled with titles.
3. Copy the folders and paste them to SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Spellforce Platinum Edition\mod

Step 5 - Applying mods
1. Launch SpellForce: Platinum Edition using the Play button in your Steam Library. If you have followed the guide correctly, SpellForce Mod Launcher should be launched.
2. Tick all the mods you can see and press Apply. The window will freeze for couple of seconds, don't freak out. Wait until the message at the bottom states "Changes applied".

3. Press Launch game and you are good to go, the mods have been applied and your game has now been modded. Enjoy!
Conclusion
The guide is short and simple. Even though Steam Workshop currently doesn't have many mods for this game I've felt that such guide should exist in the community.

If players agree, they can prove me right when I see numbers of Views and Favorites grow :)

If you want to install a mod which you downloaded from somewhere else than Steam Workshop - this guide will not help you unfortunately. I don't play the game anymore so I won't be able to research and create a guide for that. Try googling or checking instructions on that mod itself on moddb page

I suppose it's been like that since 2021, strange that there is no normal integration still :)
