1) Color Space:
Rec.709 is recommended for making dark areas appear darker (this is a horror game after all and it is supposed to be dark) due to more true black levels. sRGB is slightly washed out in comparison, but either standard works.

2) Max Brightness:
Max Brightness should be increased all the way for maximum dynamic range preservation which results in higher detail in bright areas and better contrast.

3) Min Brightness:
Similarly, Min Brightness should be decreased all the way which results in higher detail in dark areas and better contrast.

4) Brightness:
Initially, this setting should be adjusted accordingly for reference, but if the game ends up being too dark (keep in mind that it is meant to be considerably darker than a typical game), return to this screen while in the game and increase brightness in the pause menu by one level at a time to achieve optimal results. For example, the beginning with Hunter's Lodge should be as dark as possible, but not Village Square on the first visit during daytime.
Audio

1) Master Volume, Voice Volume, BGM Volume, Sound Effects Volume and Menu Volume:
These settings are increased all the way by default and be left at that for the mix to remain as originally intended.

2) Ballistic Impact Volume:
As the volume levels mentioned above, this should be left at the default setting for the same reason, but can be changed to Small or Large to make gunshots quieter or louder respectively.

3) Audio Output Device:
Set this accordingly.

4) Speaker Orientation, Front (L/R), Surround (SL/SR), Surround Back (SBL/SBR):
These settings can be adjusted once Speaker Orientation is enabled and are meant only for surround speaker setups and should be adjusted to match angles of respective speakers relative to sitting position. To set up a surround system correctly, straightforward examples can be found below, with more detailed information available in provided PDF files:

5) 3D Audio:
This option is designed to be used with headphones and works only with Windows Sonic for Headphones enabled, but it results in significantly degraded sound quality and the "3D" effect remains more or less the same. Either way, modern Resident Evil games (starting with 7) have some of the best sound quality out there and headphones (like stereo speakers) can only do so much when it comes to the "surround" effect. It is always best to disable all such software processing features for the purest sound quality because real improvements can only come from hardware upgrades.

6) Sound Reverberation:
This setting is on by default and reverberation sounds natural, so it should be left enabled.
