Overview & Mechanic Guide
By terb
Quick overview & guide to mechanics that I made during the time the demo was out for friends.

This has a fair amount of the mechanics but note that it does not describe all the mechanics that are in the full game.

Foreword

I made this guide during the demo to get some friends into the game, so as described, this does not have the full list of mechanics in the full version, but I still decided to upload it cause it might be helpful.

I made it as one big .png so it's just a bunch of images.

Some of the terminology is borrowed from FFXIV where appropriate (and listed as such) and are not official names.

If there's demand for more mechanics to be added to this guide from the full game I can add more but otherwise I'll probably leave this as is as just a quick and dirty starter for people.

NOTE: Correction on "match colors": you must also NOT overlap a color that is not yours, otherwise you will take damage.

If you have no color and you overlap a color, that also counts as overlapping a color that is not yours, and you will also take damage.

Thanks @Ryou and @char$ for the correction!

@Bees "defend yourself" is undodgeable attack, you have to get invulnerability somehow to not take daamge. Usually this will be your defensive, but if you or your teammates have some other way to give you invulnerable, you'll be safe.

@Bees - I am fairly certain that means "Use your defensive cooldown that every class has, or otherwise drop what you are doing and focus on survival." Hope that helps!

This is a great guide on the basic mechanics, any plan to make guides on bosses?

adding more to the color circles, there's also a "soak" (from xiv) variant where the boss places static colored circles, and if one is empty when the cast finishes it damages everyone.

To add to this, there is one fight where you are matched and tethered to a partner having to dodge big exaflares, in this scenario only one of you has to match a color, while the other has to match no color at all. If you then end up in a colored circle without any color, you also take damage, if I remember correctly.

Ryou is right, for example you have a red colour and your teammate has a blue and you overlap them, you both take damage because you matched the wrong colours.
