Logistics 101

Still working on this, but hopefully should clarify a few things that keep coming up on the forum

Key points:
- Farmhouse/logistics share storage
- All storages (barn/silo/warehouse) have a configurable radius

From outside:

- Purchased goods will go to the farmhouse
- To move these to storages you need logistics workers, either the farmhouse or logistics hubs
- Goods will only be moved to a storage if it has a resource order set up

To outside:

- Fields WILL ONLY harvest if there is a silo/barn/warehouse with space in range
- Logistics transport goods to logistics, and then onwards to any requests if any*)
- Autosell WILL intercept any material that in in the logistics hub, even if it is due to head out to a storage. Plan accordingly.
- Sales happen from the farmhouse

Animals/Factories:

- require inputs, from a storage in range, with a request order set

(*Might possibly drop off requests en-route, more testing needed, don't count on it)
Examples
Grain Harvest:

- Field harvest goes to nearest silo with space
- Logistics takes grain to logistics hub
- Logistics takes grain from hub to storages with requests

Factories/Animals:

- Inputs/feed drawn from storage in range (requires request to get them in the warehouse), these can be from the farm or bought from the market
- Workers take inputs/feed to facility
- Outputs taken to nearest storage
- Logistics take output beyond request level into logistics network

Just to save new players from finding this out way too late, I thought is should be noted here that...

Once you build a resource building, the workers in your farmhouse stop functioning.

This isn't part of the tutorial. It was apparently the plan for it to be this way, but the only way you'd discover it was by scrolling through a year and a half of user comments. You might as well go and put those farmhouse workers in the new resource building and save on unneeded payroll.

Thanks! I hadn't played for a couple of months and I just could NOT remember how this version did logistics to feed my animals. Plus there's been a major update since I last played (liking the Asia farm) which wasn't helping.

So they really upped the micro on logistics. They need a copy and paste function in the UI. I'm not a micro hater per se but i do hate tedious chores. I hope they add in a creative mode. I do not like their tutorial.
