Tutorial & Explanation
The AI in this game can be incredibly annoying to play against because it has a bad habit of spotting you from long distances, causing you to randomly get shot and die. Thankfully, there is a built-in feature that allows you to help remedy this issue.

Tutorial:

Go to Settings>Gameplay

- Scroll down to AI settings and set it to custom

- Set "Perception Threshold" to around 0.15-0.20

- Set "Perception Range" to around 110-120

- Set "Perception Angle" to around 60-65

Additionally, you can increase the "On Target Aim Threshold" if you feel the AI has too good of an aim.

Tweak these values until you are satisfied with how the AI plays. Don't be afraid to go below or above these settings to get the AI to the difficulty/range you want.

Also, don't forget to sneak and crouch when around the AI so they don't detect you.

I set range below 200(its the distance to the default spawn) but i make them less accurate so they don't insta kill me and i have time to react.

only problem remains that i can bait Ai from far distances by shooting at random spots :DD

it would be nice if they would not react to random shots from long distances, or just be alert in theyre spot, like taking cover or something :D

I feel like if you can see them they should be able to see you. Even at range. If you don't want them seeing you in the corner of their eyes you can change the perception angle but range I don't see a problem with. Unfortunately that means they can just have their heads over the top of something and spot you then start shooting while you're wondering what the hell is going but I'm sure if they could think, they'd say the same thing when you come in.

Very cool guide. One thing to know about Perception Threshold is that with the latest patch, if you set it to the max value of 1.0, then the AI won't be able to see you, no matter what. If you set it to 0.5, then you will be able to position yourself behind a barrel, standing with your upper body fully exposed, and the AI won't be able to notice you because it can only see 50% of your body (it can see the head and torso, but can't see the legs). I found that currently 0.35 and 0.4 work best, especially if you are trying to emulate how most other games behave (MGS 5, Ghost Recon etc.)

Hope this helps with tweaking. :)

I play with 170 range. Spawn is around 180-190 from the closest AI. Play with the AI aim settings to not get insta killed and ur good

Perception Threshold sets how well the AI has to perceive the player to spot them. "On Target Aim Threshold" sets how accurate the AI aim is.

What does threshold change? What does it mean?
