By Captain Scruby
The controller configuration tool doesn't always accept your button inputs so this is how you find out what the number of each button is.

Step 1
Open Control panel
Hardware and sound
Click on view devices and printers
Locate your device
Find the controller you wish to use and right click on it's Icon, then select Game Controller Settings
Controller selection
Ensure the controller you wish to find the button numbers for is selected and then click Properties
Test Screen
While on this screen you can press a button on your controller and it's corresponding number will light up Please note that any button bound to act as a right or left trigger may act as a Z axis instead of having a button number and therefore cannot be bound in the Umineko Controller configuration tool via this method
Button Binding
You may now map your buttons with your mouse via the drag down menu Please note that if your directions don't work in game you may need to switch your directions option in the Umineko configuration tool from D-Pad to Joystick Or vice Versa.

In response to your comment the only otherway I know of to find out what the numbers are is to brute force finding out by binding buttons via t he drag down menu and going in game and pressing the buttons to figure out which button is which number by looking at which number in the configuration tool corresponds to what is happening in game, which is what I was trying to have people avoid doing by making this guide so you could find out the numbers the easy way, but if your game controller settings doesn't open you'll just have to do it the hard way sadly ;c.
