Dirty fighting 101
Playing on Expert means no more asskicking, since any enemy now can kill you by sneezing too hard in your general direction. (…And an unlucky stumble can become fatal as well, even if there's no enemy in sight.) This means, if you want to get a 100% kill (…or even survive), you'll have to improvise fight dirty. Here's a list of techniques belonging to this arcane martial art:

  • Blade skills
    • Slit his throat – the deadliest ninja remains unseen. Sneak up on your enemy and grab him into a hold, then use something sharp to pacify him. If there's anyone else nearby, dragging the corpse away is advised, lest it attracts undesired attention. (…Oddly enough, a suddenly missing fellow guard who dropped his weapon and some blood as well isn't considered the least bit suspicious around here.)
Will work even if you brazenly run up to an enemy (if he's alone).
    • Backstab (or Target practice) – weapons are great, especially if your enemy has his unarmored back turned toward you. Stick a blade into it, or hurl a spear; the result will often be one very dead opponent.
    • Expeditious delivery – A risky maneuver of lobbing a weapon in the enemy's face at point-blank. (Works better with polearms, feints can help as well; not so good against armour.)
    • Sword to a fistfight – you were spotted? Good news: weapons are still useful even without direct access to your enemy's back… as long as he's unarmed, that is (and preferably unprepared as well).
    • Stab and run – but what if your weapon is a measly knife? Fret not, fellow fighter: if you keep running away while swinging your weapon behind you, sooner or later the bastard following you around will drop dead (also works with kicking, but success rate is much lower). …Screaming at the top of your lungs is optional.

  • Hand-to-hand combat
    • Sneak and strangle – same approach as Slit his throat, but without a blade. Takes a bit longer as you have to wait until they go limp. Note that you can drag them away even while they're still struggling (and can continue to do so even when they stop).
    • I have the high ground! – if diplomacy stealth is not an option, find a tall enough platform and jump on top of it; and whenever your enemy tries to follow you, kick him down without mercy! Without steady footing they're completely defenceless. (If you blundered and let him land, jump down, then return while he's jumping down trying to follow you.)
    • Trip'em up – no fitting platform to claim as the King of the Hill? Not a problem – find a rock or a ledge and hide behind it. Jumping down still results in unsteady footing for your enemy – so kick him down while he can't stop you. Rince, repeat, victory! (…Oh, and throwing knifes works pretty well, too.)
    • Death from above! – not every foe can be reasoned with caught flat-footed, and not every battlefield has a convenient rock to give your enemy a higher ground (that he has to get down from). The last resort is to jump as high as you can and try landing on top of your opponent, delivering a mighty rabbit double-kick (though most enemies on Expert can be wary of such jumps). Note that while this method does jack agains anyone with a weapon (at least on Expert), wolves loop back into being nearly unkillable by any other means (…except if one just lets you stab him in the back repeatedly).
    • Fly away, little bird! – flight had long been a dream of many people; if given the chance, show benevolence and make this dream a reality for your opponent! All you need is a tall enough cliff and careful aim when delivering a double-kick. (A sidekick may work too, but it's harder to pull off well.)

  • Tactical stratagems
    • Is this for me? – if you jump around too much, that dog might just lob his sword at you; don't be rude – pick up the weapon he dropped and return back to him, Sword to a fistfight style (since he's likely going to be unarmed after parting with his weapon). …Just make sure to dodge first.
    • Ganging up – sometimes the fight is already there, and you need a specific (your) side to win. In this case, attack those enemies who are already preoccupied with fighting someone else… and especially those who got knocked down. (Actually, never pass up the chance to kick the enemy while he's down! …And remember – it's only wrong when the enemy does it.)
    • Don't look, there's no toilets here! – most enemies will ignore you as long as you stay crouched in a bush, no matter how blatantly see-through it is. Even if your ears are clearly sticking out. This can be used to get closer and wait for the right moment to strike. (Hiding below ledges or stairs can achieve similar effect, but there needs to be an obstacle obscuring you from your enemy's sight.)
    • Ambush – Stand behind a corner, wait for the enemy, then jump him before he can gather his wits. (Works against unarmoured enemies, but takes time to execute.)
    • Hey look, a dead body! – leaving a corpse in your enemy's vicinity (or kicking it in the right direction) will cause him to shout and run towards the corpse; meanwhile, you can either ambush him while he's distracted, or try to sneak around him (as long as you don't get too close). …Also momentarily popping out from around the corner is bound to attract some attention as well.
    • RUN AWAY! – thankfully, getting away from someone's line of sight for a minute or so is enough to get them to forget all about seeing you. Must have been the wind, then.

Note that even if you're no longer being chased, the run might be botched as your enemy may still be on edge and/or forget his patrol route. So you'd better make sure to deal with him ASAP if you were spotted.

Another useful note: if your knife is stuck inside of a still living enemy, pulling it out might just finish the job.

Opponent notes
  • Rats (small, weak, and loud; encountered in packs).
Overwhelm them with brute force, or use stealth.
  • Rabbits (they jump and kick, but won't throw their weapons around).
Sneak up on them, attack when they're in midair, or use large weapons for one-hit kills.
  • Body snatchers (possessed rabbits; most are unarmed, but all of them are tough and hard to kill)
Sneak up and strangle, or failing that maul them with blunt attacks when they have no chance to fight back.
  • Wolves (very fast and near unkillable; can soak up lots of damage and deliver devastating attacks)
Avoid melee at all costs; use drop-kicks, avoid falling on your head, and drop them down from a cliff if there is one nearby.
  • Dogs (strong, durable, tend to throw their weapons at jumpy enemies)
Annoy them into discarding their weapons, slash them when they try to kick at you.
  • Cats (very good at stabbing things; also good at throwing stuff but won't throw away the main weapon)
Find a way to kill them off instantly, or consider yourself skewered.

Parkour sequences

There's only a few parkour sequences in the game, and only a handful of tricks that would help you there.
  • Look out for scratch marks – they signify where you're supposed to be going. (In the main Overgrowth storyline, anyway.)
  • Some jumps require to use a wall-run first.
  • When chaining wall-jumps, avoid hugging the wall.
  • Some jumps have to be performed in a very specific way; if you do it wrong you'll just fall down (often straight to your death).
  • To bounce off a wall: leap towards it at an acute angle, then at the moment of contact kick at it (i.e. attack aiming perpendicularly at the wall).
If you're having difficulties, I suggest checking out my walkthrough videos: they include a gamepad input overlay.
Lugaru
This campaign is listed the 2nd since it's not the main one, but chronologically it comes first. Mostly consists of small arenas, each with the objective of killing all of your enemies (those being rabbits and wolves).

Therium-2
“Another place, another time.” Branching storyline, with most levels having a goal of reaching a portal. The enemies are rabbits, body snatchers, and also cats (once). In almost all levels you start out unarmed (though in most cases, a weapon can be found… but not always when it's actually useful).
  • There's a short hidden route E-A-F [in Prologue level] (it mainly deals with the original plans the Empire had for you)
  • Aside from that, there's 2 primary routes (A & B); there's a suggestion of at least one more and news of it being worked on by the devs (…but I've seen that same info being mentioned in 2018 so I'm not exactly holding my breath for it)
  • Before you reach Hub, there's 2 parallel routes S1-A & S1-B that you can switch between nearly any time (except for the second-to-last level)
  • After the Hub, you get non-intersecting routes S2-A & S2-B (depending on whether you follow directions of the guy you've never met before who's telling you to kill people)
    • in S2-A you get one more choice (go through with rabbit genocide [including your own sister] or go back to follow the plans of the Empire)
    • in S2-B you also get a choice (finish your business with Jairo or just go home… [other rabbits will be genocided either way, the choice is whether your sister gets to live])

Drika's Story
A side story for Therium-2, with only 3 fights. There's only 2 choices, one of them has no long-term effect, the other affects the ending. Also you're not playing as a rabbit this time.

All fights here are short and brutal. Do them exactly right, or retry repeatedly until you get lucky.

(This applies especially to the last one; you'll need to slip past your opponent's guard with a feint in the split second before he forces you into a melee.)

Bonus: Ronin Stealth Mod
A bunch of levels with very simple rules: stay undetected, kill everyone.

(I played this one on Expert as well, but I can't say it makes any difference… Also you pretty much have to use dirty tricks only, due to the rules. So if you want help beyond the enemy roster, you'll have to refer to the video.)

There's little point in listing dirty tricks for each level separately here; use Sneak and strangle if you don't have a weapon, and Slit his throat/Target practice if you do.

Bonus: Death Pit mod

Your goal is to sneak inside the castle, kill the king and leave. But achieving 100% kill is still possible.

7+7 rabbits (3 with halberds, 7 with swords, 1 with a spear, 1 with a hammer)

Level 2 (The Castle)
2 rats, 17+14+3 rabbits (8 with spears, 1 with a halberd, 3 with hammers, 2 with swords, 5 with knives, 1 large with a knife)
Sneak and strangle, Slit his throat, Target practice/Expeditious delivery, Backstab, Ambush/Sword to a fistfight/I have the high ground!

Note that enemies here tend to call for reinforcements when agitated, and there's also a number of weapons lying around in the 2nd level; so after you succeed with assassination, most of the remaining enemies are likely going to gather nearby (including those from the 1st floor, and with more weapons than listed here). Your best bet here is to pick up a halberd and make sure none of them finds a polearm.
