Intro

The end of the technician's guide lists all the servers each machine talks to. I thought it would be a good idea to graph it out, to see if any kind of grouping beyond the obvious a.b.c.* sub netting that the geography suggests.

I post this not as a guide for others to follow, but a warning to save them from madness.

The Diagram

Do not gaze too long, for the diagram gazes upon you

If you wish to decypher this:
Blue Servers respond to everyone
Red Servers respond to scams
Grey Servers remain silent
Brown Servers respond to mining requests
Green Servers give you money, whether the packet was intended for it or not.

Red Lines indicate the server sends sensitive packets.
Servers generally respond to a message they receive.
I didn't indicate servers that send packets with a TTL, as the guidebook didn't indicate them.
Nor did I indicate traffic amounts, I've already spent too much time on this.

Conclusion

It's 1am and I'm supposed to be at work tomorrow. Don't make the mistake I did. Just make a giant ring network. There is nothing in the caves. Come rest in the villa pool. It's safe here. Swim here. We are one in the pool.

People keep saying there is not 0.0.2.* subnet, but that doesn't mean that things don't get sent to it. The shop in the 0.0.*.* sector sends packets to 0.0.2.* servers even though they don't exist. Just drop them with a filter.

btw you can continue playing normally even if you’re at the very end, you can just choose to not go to the surface

This is all based from the guide at the back of the manual - I didn't compare it to reality because I had already crossed the end of game threshold and didn't want to start again to go through the entire game just to make the web of nonsense has only 298 lines rather than the 340+ it currently has :)

@deadbeef I'm not actually sure, the 2.1.2.* addresses I have are ripped out of the in-game manual. I regrettably saved after reaching the HQ, so I haven't gone back to check the rest of the map and see how they behave in game.
