It seems the lighting may have been too bright indeed. I looked into how to build cubemaps and applied that to the new version. Now, the lighting is not too bright. It would be great if the models were also displayed nicely...
Also, there are error models in the kitchen and secret noclip area.
Some computers may ignore material errors, so I really appreciate your error report.
I attempted to fix those errors earlier.
Are there any other material errors that appear completely black?

By the looks of things, it's looking for a "$basetexture" value in the "normal" vmt, and there isn't one.
