This guide is directed for those who are using the Proton/Wine version of CK3, also known as the non-native version of CK3; mainly due to native linux ck3 being buggy and unstable.

Nonetheless, I made this guide because, as the title states, after playing CK3 for a while, my audio would become crackly using the Equalizer effect from EasyEffects (formerly PulseEffects). After hours, many hours of searching the internet, I found a concise fix.

This fix will most likely assist any other game that suffers audio crackling as well; however, for ck3, I found the audio crackling most prevalent.

thanks, for some reason easyeffects was causing crackling audio in ONLY proton games on my thinkpad, tho i had no issues on my desktop. could it be an issue with pipewire setting the quantum too low by default?
