Beat all the fighters, went to do the survival rumble and realized I didn't remember a lot of the attacks anymore, so putting together this note set/guide.

Notes:
  • There are 5 kinds of block: don't touch (body block), down (duck), up (head block), right, and left (dodges). You can hold them for longer, but they do have a max amount of time before it resets you to center.
  • Opponents allow 4 hits max between their swings.
  • If you hit your opponent many times without getting hit at all, they enter a dizzy state for a bit and let you hit them another 4-6 times.
  • Some opponents can be hit immediately after they get up.
  • I don't see the benefit of Charge hits.
  • If you hit their block too many times, they'll do a one off counter hit. Avoid these if possible, they often will throw off dodging rhythm.
  • After an opponent knockdown, press a repeatedly to recover hp. They will usually stay down for 3 to 4 seconds on a regular hit, and 7 on a special hit.
  • Specials are good for taking off extra damage, but especially later fights, save them for the last hit, so you can recover more hp while the count goes.
  • Specials count as 1 hit for the max hits between their swings
  • Sound cues are really helpful for each of the attacks, but especially since they're mostly different variations of "grunt", I can't help much with that in this guide
  • When recovering (from knockdown or knocking them down), use all the buttons to recover, not just A. Hopefully you won't need it much though
  • If you get hit into gray, it zooms in, but all the sound cues are the same, I recommend leaning on those, and survive long enough and you'll be in color again, even if you don't know them down
Rico
Advice:
If you're struggling with Rico, choose a lower difficulty until you're more used to the mechanics. Fret not, even if you're struggling on Rookie, it just takes a couple fights before you get the feel for it! Then you'll be punching fools left and right

Will *generally* let you hit his face 4 times without countering. When he gets up, you can hit 4 times immediately, don't have to wait for him to swing

Attack 1

Dodge Away (Right in picture)

Attack 2

Dodge Down

Attack 3

Dodge Down

Stage 3
Get Up Attack:
Does the above attacks in order (1 -> 2 -> 3), so Dodge away -> Dodge Down -> Dodge Down again

Back
Advice:
Get comfortable with the different form of blocks/dodges, especially the no move body block. He'll signal everything very clearly so you have to punish those hits. If you're still struggling, focus solely on dodging/blocking until he throws either "Attack 1" or a Get Up Attack, and do all your damage during those times as they're relatively easier to dodge and you can get a full set of attacks each time guaranteed

Attack 1

Dodge Down

Attack 2

Body block (Don't move) x3

Attack 3

Dodge Left -> Dodge Right

Stage 2
Get up attack

Dodge Down

Stage 3
Get up attack

Body Block (Don't move) x2

Attack 3+

Dodge Left -> Dodge Right -> Dodge Left

Cobra
Advice:
Opponents hits really start to hurt, especially in Stage 3. Be comfortable with the Stage 3 Get Up Attack dodge, because that will give you the extra HP to finish him off. And if you're feeling like you are too low hp usually, try dodging the "Attack 1" instead of Body Blocking, it takes a bit more practice, but it'll mean you have more hp for later

Attack 1

Body Block (Don't move)

Attack 2

Dodge Down

Attack 3

Dodge Down -> Body Block (Don't move)
* You can hit him between these two moves for the first stage

Attack 4

Dodge Left

Stage 2
Get up attack

Dodge Left (Or Right)

Stage 3
Get up attack

Dodge Left -> Hold for second attack -> Dodge Down

Attack 1+

Body Block (Don't move) x3

Attack 2+

Dodge Down -> Body Block (Don't move)

Attack 4+

Dodge Left -> Dodge Left -> Hold left for third attack

Witch
Somehow your coach says she's the favorite to win? Game hasn't even gotten hard yet

She has a shield, so the regular attack patterns don't work the same for her; attack the shield between her attacks until it breaks, after the shield break, she has a long vulnerable period, so just punch her as many times as you can. Easy opponent to Special hit on, but also use it early in the hits, she will block if you try to sneak in a late Special into the 8 dizzy hits.

Advice:
You can get a lot of punches in between her attacks, even ones in the same string. I feel comfortable usually putting 3 in between each link of "Attack 1" for example. Use this to your advantage and throw Specials early in her damage vulnerable state.

Attack 1 - "Attack!"

The green magic may move around first, after about a second and a half, it slashes across. Will likely do multiple of these in a row.
Dodge towards the starting location of the slash (Right and Left respectively on these pictures)

Attack 2 - "Give 'em hell!"

Screen will flash for a split second and attack comes down the middle of the screen.
Dodge Right

Attack 3 - "Hold!" (I think she says)

Dodge down

Attack 4 - "Drop the fire"

Three part X-attacks, Left, Middle, then Right.
I Dodge Right, hold for second attack, then Dodge Left

Stage 2
Get Up Attack - "Hold!" again, different attack

Vertical beam down the middle of the screen, twice
Dodge Right (or Left), come back immediately after the blast and instantly Dodge Right (or Left) again. If you dodge the first one late enough, you can dodge both by holding.

This stage is basically the same otherwise except she might go longer on strings of attacks

Stage 3
Get Up Attack - "Bigger explosion"

Undodgeable attack as far as I can tell.
Up Block to minimize the damage

Attack 4+ - "Drop the fire"

Same as Attack 4, but she goes through the three attacks two times now.
I Dodge Right, hold for second attack, then Dodge Left; repeat

Attack 5 - No dialogue, hardest to react to

The ball starts at the top, goes counter clockwise, then slashes from top right of the screen, and returns back from the bottom left.
Easiest way to deal with it (It's a fairly rare move) is to:
Up Block the first hit. The second hit, either Dodge Right if you can react in time, or just hold Up Block. For the return hit, Dodge Right

Video:
Worw
This is where the game starts getting unforgiving. Worw doesn't take hits nearly as consistently as the previous fights, so now all of a sudden even the 4 hits between attacks is not guaranteed and if you really go for it, you'll get counter attacked, which as I mentioned earlier, can really mess up your groove.

At least it doesn't have the worst to read attack set:

Advice:
Be ready to not get full amount of attacks between it's attacks, vary up your timings or whether you punch high or low and I feel like you get a better chance to connect at least once or twice. Avoid Counter hits! And personally, I like to save a Lvl3 special for Stage 3, and land it when he tries to hit the "Stage 2 Get Up Attack" as that is a guaranteed hit.

Attack 1

Dodge Down

Attack 2 - "Attack"

Dodge Right

Attack 3 - "Attack"

Starts the same as Attack 2, but then adds an undodgeable follow up, and only happens from the right side of the screen for phase 1.
Dodge Left, then Low Block (Don't move)

Stage 2
Begins to add more attacks to the chains. So like, Attack 2, then Attack 1; or vice versa

Get Up Attack

Up Block to prevent damage/poison. You can also Lvl2+ Special punch the mouth when it's open to do damage and stop the attack if you prefer.

Attack 4

Don't Dodge (Stay middle), Dodge Right, Don't Dodge (Stay middle)

Stage 3
Get Up Attack

Dodge Left

Attack 1+

Will now swipe back sometimes on the sideways swipes.
Either hold down or Dodge Down twice. Be ready for variation where he may transition to Attack 2 instead of swiping back

Video:
Pega
Advice:
A step in the easier direction, his moves are significantly weirder, but once you've seen them, they're pretty easy to counter and avoid. If you're struggling, throw head punches, and learn his moves. Some just need a little delay in dodging

He lets you face punch his Mister Mxyzptlk looking self the majority of the time, plus his moves are easy to dodge, so Counters aren't as scary. When you kill him (After 3rd stage), he'll respawn one more time, but his attacks are all the same, so no worries there.

Attack 1

Can appear on either side, his face also looks in the direction of where the attack is coming from, so feel free to use either cue. Does it 2x in the first stage, sometimes 3 in later stages
Dodge towards the circle/the way Pega is looking

Attack 2

Undodgeable, so just Up Block when he goes off the top of the screen and hold until he's reforms into his normal body

Attack 3

Multi part attack, first leans in towards you, flips over, then legs attack the edges. Then the legs become bouncing balls (Yeah I know), and the balls will bounce towards the center to reform/attack you
Dodge Left, then back to the center, don't dodge. When the legs become balls, wait until they bounce on the floor, then Duck (Dodge down)

Attack 4

You can attack him for chip damage throughout the entirety of this move. Just get ready to dodge when you see this still/when he rises up a bit with his third eye.
Dodge down and hold

Stage 2
Get Up Attack

Disappearing into a cloud of smoke, he appears out of a sewer cover on the left. He'll start doing this x2 in Stage 3
Dodge Left when he points at you

Stage 3
Get Up Attack

When Pega twists up like this, there will be three beams going from Left to Middle to Right
Dodge Right, Hold, then Dodge Left after the middle beam

Attack 5

Confusing visually, but a standard pattern, dodge the two lines at a time
Dodge Left, then Dodge Right

Video:
Evil Rico
Advice:
Oh boy, it's time. First the good news: Evil Rico really only has 4 or 5 attack strings. Now the bad news: they *HURT*... a lot; especially Stage 3, if you get hit once, you're at death's door. So it's pretty unforgiving. But at least if you get the hang of the attack strings, he'll let you mash his face in repeatedly. So try not to get hit, use your specials to take him down (ESPECIALLY the takedown before Stage 3), and hope you can get to processing the signals quickly. This one takes a bit.

Attack String 1

Starts with just an uppercut coming from the left, following by a charge hook from the right.
For now: Dodge Right, then Dodge Down (duck)

Attack String 2

Starts with an uppercut from the right, then immediately uppercuts again
For now: Dodge Left until you see the uppercut, then immediately Dodge Right

Attack String 3

Starts with a charge hook from the left of the screen, swiped across and comes right back for a second attack. Follow this with a hook charged from the left of the screen
For now: Duck (Dodge Down), Hold for the second swipe, then Dodge Right

Attack String 4 - "Power"

Charges mid screen, punches downward twice making an X pattern
Duck (Dodge Down) and Hold

Stage 2
Get Up Attack - Attack String 5 - "Super Attack"

Strong attack that confuses if it hits you (Confusion flips your controls, avoid obviously)
Duck (Dodge Down)

Attack String 1+

This Attack String now adds a "Power" swing down
Add a Duck (Down Dodge)

Attack String 4+ - "Power"

This Attack String now adds a left charge afterwards
Add a Right Dodge

Stage 3
Get Up Attack - Attack String 5+ - "Super Attack"

Add another Super Attack after the first one from the other direction.
Add another Duck (Down Dodge) or Hold your previous one.

Attack String 1++

Adds another Uppercut charge from right side of screen
Add a Left Dodge

Attack String 2+

Adds an Uppercut charge from right side of screen
Add a Left Dodge

Attack String 3+

Adds a "Power" punch down the middle
Add a Duck (Dodge Down)

Attack String 4++ - "Power"

This Attack String now adds a "Super Attack" punch at the end
Add a Duck (Dodge Down)

Recap - Stage 1, (Stage 2, (Stage 3)):
Attack String 1
Right, Duck, (Duck, (Left))
Attack String 2
Left, Right, ((Left))
Attack String 3
Duck, Hold, Right, ((Duck))
Attack String 4
Duck, Hold, (Right, (Duck))
Attack String 5
(Duck, (Duck/Hold))

Xiglaz
Advice:
Now for the victory lap. Xiglaz is a significantly easier battle, his moves are *mostly* slow and very telegraphed. Also you can punch him nonstop to build your meter up faster, which will be key to an easy no down fight. Main advice if you're struggling is to just use your meter as he charges his Get Up Attacks as those are the most damaging and hardest to dodge. Secondarily, punch less if you must since avoiding the red beam and the blue-green beams is important as well since they can hurt

For this guy, don't bother letting him Get Up Attack you, the easiest and fastest way is to Super every time he charges one of the Get Up Attacks. You'll finish him in no time

Attack 1

Charge on left, swipe right
Up Block (can't dodge)

Attack 2

Charge on right, swipe left
Duck (Down Dodge)

Attack 3

Red beam shoots down center
Left (or Right) Dodge after the charge

Attack 4

Blue Green beams charge at his neck
Left (or Right) Dodge after the charge away from the beam's charging, then the opposite direction Dodge

Stage 2
Get Up Attack

Big charge that will hit a lot of times in a row, and poison if it connects. It seems like you should *just* have enough time to dodge it, but I've not gotten it to work and the risk reward is bad.
Up Block (And hold through all the various swipes)

Attack 1+
Adds a back swing, add Duck (Down Dodge)

Attack 3+
Will fire twice now

Attack 4+
Fires a Red beam down center after both blue green beams, add a Left (or Right) Dodge

Stage 3
Get Up Attack

This one is tough to dodge, but the first three can be, the last needs to be blocked.
Wait a second while he winds up, then Dodge Right; immediately Down Dodge (Duck); then *immediately* Dodge Left, this one is confusing as it looks like you would get hit, but is the only way to avoid entirely (You can block if you prefer, the damage should be negligible); and finally the big charged swing down, Up Block (Can do a lot of damage)

Attack 1++
Adds a third swing, add Up Block

Attack 2+

Adds the quick back swing, add Up Block

Attack 3++
Will fire thrice now

Attack 4++
Adds an base Attack 2 swing after the red beam, add a Dodge Down (Duck)

Survival Rumble
Time to put it all together! Keep some super punches to recover health during downs since the post fight ones don't give too much, hope Evil Rico isn't too much of a prick to you, and stay on your game, and you can get it with no knockdowns!

Sorry! Should be was carrying that sentence a lot, it's just very hard to fully dodge and does relatively low damage, but can definitely still kill you
Rondras 20 Jul @ 3:02pm
"You can block if you prefer, the damage should be negligible" literally kills you, aha, super negligible
Voyse 22 Aug, 2024 @ 4:38pm
Though charge hits seem slower and don't seem to do more damage, I think charge hits function the same as your Special hit for the knock down counter at least. Or maybe a certain number of charge hits cause the knock down counter to reach a 7 count, as if it hits a hidden stamina gauge. I can say I've gotten 7 counts on beast Cobra with only charge punches and regular punches. Though, beast Worw only seems to give a 5 count even if supered.

Also for the Glam Witch. Stage 3 Get Up Attack should be "Giga explosion". and Attack 4+ is "Cross of Fire".

Great guide!

thank god for this!
i struggled a lot to read the opponent's attack, let alone react to it.
in addition some of the enemy's attacks does not indicate correctly where you're suppose to dodge/block - sometimes you feel that the game is unfair
