A long time ago in a land far away when a video game, especially an MMORPG was launching, we had at least a vague window of the launch date before we got excited.  In recent years (ok for the last decade and a half) we’ve gotten excited six, eight, ten years before a game even has a launch date.  That’s why it was so surprising to hear about Brighter Shores launching in Quarter 3, 2024.  From award winning MMORPG designer and co-founder of Jagex Andrew Gower, “Brighter Shores is an all new adventure.  Explore a land of magic and mysteries with a huge number of professions to try, and something new to find around every corner.  Brighter Shores features an ongoing story and hundreds of hours of gameplay.”

Fans of top down, grid movement and combat games (Looking at you RuneScape players) Brighter Shores is a point and click style RPG.  “It's an MMORPG” said Gower on X “But doesn’t rely on other players to be fun”  While the game is launching as a F2P MMORPG on Steam, Gower and Fen Research Ltd’s goal is to make an MMORPG that is opposed to the onslaught of microtransactions in MMOs”  In case you missed it the Paradox most recent video on microtransactions is here:  https://youtu.be/Fp-xrw2RwAU

The monetization strategy will be free-to-play, with an all inclusive premium pass that will offer players extra quests, adventures, stories, professions, as well as player-to-player trading and special character names.
