Diet:
This species is opportunistic; primarily a scavenger, but will attack live prey if necessary.

Has a meat grinder mouth and legs; the back having a soft spot where its stomach distends out; allowing it to store large amounts of food for long term hibernation via extremely slow digestion.

Reproduction:
Reproduces by budding, breaks off an arm that grows into a genetically remixed clone; they also exchange/add/remove genes by drinking blood from one another or ejecting it.

Side note:
As a result of this blood drinking/exchange, they carry a LOT of bloodborne parasites, which symbiotically provide both protection and issues.

Said parasites both protect them, and shorten their lifespans, protects by killing pathogens, but slowly kills the host by eventually overgrowing, blocking blood flow.

The hibernation being an adaptation to this, as the parasites too are tricked into hibernation; so they prefer to stay dormant unless feeding/reproduction is necessary.

When hibernating; they wrap the arms around their boated stomach like a vampire-squid does with its spikes tentacles when threatened.

Lifespan:
Parasite afflicted, 10-15 years.
Unaffiliated, 20 years.
