1. Alchemy
One of the few damage upgrades in the game and the only infinitely scaling buff

You want to get this asap, the more gold you have the stronger you'll become once you get the 2nd upgrade to this game breaking upgrade, and you want to open every chest and break every prop to get as much gold as possible during the run

You will need Topaz + Vase to make this
2. Weapon choice
By far the best weapon is the axe, it basically has the same upgrades as the sword but has 1 clear advantage over the sword which is the +50 HP upgrade which is MASSIVE (I also like the spin attack it has at the end of the combo which is a plus.)

You want to get this early as it deals a ♥♥♥♥ ton of damage to early game mobs without needing much else in terms of items, but make sure you get the 2nd upgrade as it doubles the damage it deals.

You can craft this weapon with a Hilt + Rock
3. Water Staff
This in my opinion is one of the best items you can craft as it stun locks mobs that come close, at doesn't deal much damage but the utility it offers is insane.

I'd recommend getting this as early as possible as it pretty much trivializes many of the early game enemies because of the CC it offers, and you don't need to upgrade it at all as we don't get it for the damage.

You can craft this with Fire + Ice.
4. Explosive Slash
This item is important as it is fun, the AOE damage it offers is crazy good in later stages when the mobs start pouring in.

But that's not the only reason we get it, I would argue that the sweet sweet 15% DMG buff it offers at upgrade 2 is even more important because it's one of the VERY few DMG upgrades in the game, which is needed considering the final boss is a timed DPS check.

You can make this using Fire + Hilt.
5. Barold on Fire
This item is pretty fun to use and a good one to combo with Water Staff, the close quarters AOE damage you deal with these 2 items is surprisingly high.

This is something you want get if you can't get the materials for the Axe or the Water Staff, but you might want to skip it if you have either of them because the mats it uses are used in crafting more important items.

Crafted with Fire + Vase.
